    3 c. sugar
    Juice of one lemon
    1 Tbsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. kosher salt

I brought it to a boil and then cooked it over medium heat in a 5 qt. pot until the liquid dropped off a spoon in thick, heavy drops. I then pureed the mixture in the blender.

It's pretty sweet, so I might cut some of the sugar if I have more fruit like this in future weeks. I think it would be good on ice cream, too.
    This sound perfect.

We are drowning in apples as we had a big haul for our tree in the back yard this year.

Latest usage of co-op food: Braised Cauliflower with Indian Spices.

I added about 1/2 tsp. of ground cardamom, and ate over brown rice (though basmati probably would have been more appropriate).

Anyone know what the pale green, somewhat shaped like a bell pepper thing is from this week?

An internet search makes it look like chayotes. Can anyone confirm this?

We received persimmons in our basket this last week. I had no idea what to do with persimmons, so I made this James Beard persimmon bread. It's crazy good. Even my toddler (who eats nothing) loves it.

Thanks for the recipe. We received them as well. We wanted to try some recipes like this with them, but we ate most of them right out of the basket with the rest going into our dinner salad (w/poppy seed dressing). If we can make them last longer, I'm definitely trying this.
