So are the chilies we received Anaheim chilies. I'm considering trying some chili verde if they are.

The pluots are off the chains! I think I've only had them once or twice before, but they are wonderful. Goofy name, but who cares?"You know, I was looking at your shirt and your scarf and I was thinking that if you had leaned over, I could have seen everything." ~Trial Ad Judge

for nearly two weeks I've been reading this thread's title as "Food Cops" and thought it was some new Food Network reality show.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

I keep reading it as "food coops", like a chicken coop. Sounds gross.Originally posted by pellegrino View Postfor nearly two weeks I've been reading this thread's title as "Food Cops" and thought it was some new Food Network reality show.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. I'm going to give landpoke's recipe a try. I am planning on roasting the chiles tonight. I guess it is actually a green chile recipe.Originally posted by beefytee View PostI just got on to ask the same question. My wife guessed they were Anaheim.

Thank you landpoke the green chili turned out very good. I kind of failed a the roasting the chiles and probably had more skins left on them than I should. It still turned out well. I did want a lot more a kick. That may come from the quality of the chiles or not roasting them properly. Next time, I'm going to mixOriginally posted by beefytee View PostThat look good. in a couple of habanero peppers with the oil when it first is in the pan. That should give me any of the heat that I want.
Using the Le Creuset, I did decided to go the slow cook route. Instead of going to the crock pot though, I just put the pot in the oven at 250 and let it cook. Great recipe and nice and simple to make.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

For those with an overabundance of plums (we still had a bunch from two weeks ago, too), what did you do with them? I made plum jam. Mmmmmm. This stuff would also be awesome on ice cream."You know, I was looking at your shirt and your scarf and I was thinking that if you had leaned over, I could have seen everything." ~Trial Ad Judge

I was eating plums like a madwoman before they went bad.Originally posted by beefytee View PostI've been eating plums like crazy. Plum jam sounds good.
The jam turned out well, and keeps for about three months in the fridge. I have bread rising, so I'll let you know how it tastes when I'm not just eating it with a spoon."You know, I was looking at your shirt and your scarf and I was thinking that if you had leaned over, I could have seen everything." ~Trial Ad Judge

Apple pear butter with the co-op spoils this time, before the fruit spoiled.
2 lbs. apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 lb. pears " "
3 c. sugar
Juice of one lemon
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
I brought it to a boil and then cooked it over medium heat in a 5 qt. pot until the liquid dropped off a spoon in thick, heavy drops. I then pureed the mixture in the blender.
It's pretty sweet, so I might cut some of the sugar if I have more fruit like this in future weeks. I think it would be good on ice cream, too."You know, I was looking at your shirt and your scarf and I was thinking that if you had leaned over, I could have seen everything." ~Trial Ad Judge
