You know, in the picture above, it looks like YOU are the one that's being forced.
HFN Jr. enjoys taking the pictures. We were on about picture 45 at that point, but it was the best one of Captain so I used it. I figured nobody here was worried about how I looked in the picture, good to know for future reference that I was wrong!
Some posts in that food pet peeves thread gave me an idea (I happen to be hungry at the moment). Let's share our favorite cookie recipes. I'll go first.
The following is an old family recipe and is my all-time favorite. They are very good cold, but are simply divine directly from the oven with a glass of milk.
Ginger Snaps (aka Molasses Cookies)
2 C sugar ½ C butter (do not use margarine!!) 1 C shortening 2 eggs ½ C molasses (Granny’s is a good brand) 4 C flour 3 t baking soda 1 ½ t cinnamon 1 t salt 1 t ginger Cream the sugar, butter and shortening. Add remaining ingredients and beat together. Roll into small balls and roll in sugar. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees. How long you cook it depends on your preference. We like them crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. To do this, you need to take them out while they are still quite soft and let them sit a minute before you take them off the sheet. Experiment to find what you like. We generally cook for 8-10 minutes in a convection oven.
Don't be turned off by the stinky molasses smell. Once they bake, they really get their schwerve on.
Hey Jeff, I followed the crowd and made your ginger snaps tonight during what I'm calling "Cookie time withe falafel." I made the name up myself, without any input from anyone else, anywhere.
I didn't read DDD's post beforehand, so I thought they were going to be nasty. Molasses smells naaaasty. I thought maybe I should have bought the "sulphered" type. Luckily, they turned out great after cooking.
This recipe makes a ton of cookies. Someone's kid kept getting in the way.
Those same intrusive kids enjoying their first-ever ginger snaps. The male child looks like he's choking it down, but he really actually enjoyed the cookies.
A bakugan figurine.
Thanks Jeff! Btw, I was reading the board today and my son came in the room. He saw your avatar and said "Hey! What's the Dude doing there?" I'm going to have a talk about which video clips they're using in his 1st grade class.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Your kid isn't missing some homework, is he?
Glad you liked them.

Nice pics falafel, also nice Tigrerra Haos he would be no match for my Duel Hydranoid however.
These are freaking rad cookies. Thanks JeffLebowski. Big hit with a nice cold glass of milk. Made them tonight. I won't share how many we have eaten amongst the 3 kids, my wife, and my MIL.
Plus, it is always good to be able to bust out a molasses recipe every now and then, to mix it up away from the standard chocolate chip.
What does that mean? Where I come from it would mean you had a cialis moment because of these cookies. That is creepy.
Based on the wild success of Surfah's previous request (see above), I have a request of my own. I'm looking for a good "Blondie" recipe. Can have chocolate chips, but they're not required.
Anyone? Help out a brother with a pregnant wife with a severe hankering for these.

Ok Creekster, I am calling you out. Where is the Mrs. Fields oatmeal cookie recipe?
Please don't leave me with the same responses that Surfah and falafel have received recently . . . .

You know how President Hinckley said he doesn't worry about those who pray? The same can be said for men who are self-aware enough to know when there's a life to be lived outside of the world of video games. - Anonymous
