I think its because he spends half of his time gallivanting around Asia. Get back to work!

last night at Harmon's cheese counter. A small piece of Spanish drunken goat cheese. Bought it on the spot, it's going to be combined with medjool dates, prosciutto, and some mascarpone for an appetizer this weekend.

Best food I ate all week, in all humility, was what I cooked for the Sister Missionaries on Sunday. I went with (Americanized) Chinese food:

              - Lemon Chicken
              - Ma Po Tofu
              - Curry pork but with potatoes
              - Beef with Broccoli in black bean sauce
              - Char Siu (Chinese barbequed pork)
              - White rice (no butter, no sugar, no milk)

I know it's not terribly authentic (except for the Tofu), but it's what my family likes.

OhioBlue, speaking of this....I was just in the 'Tah over GC weekend. There is a relatively new Smiths that just opened up off Alpine Hwy, between Lehi and AF. It is some sort of mega-Smiths, with a clothes section, a nice bakery, etc. It is all suped up.

Anyhow, one of the things they offer is a fairly impressive cheese sampler. Maybe it was a weekend deal, but I was really surprised. They had all sorts of italian and euro cheeses, as well as latin stuff, as well. It definitely was more expansive than your standard fare in the grocery store cooler.

Are these mega Smiths everywhere now? I don't even know what they are called. I had never seen one before. They are really nice, though. If there is one near you and you dig cheese, might be worthy of the effort.
                Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I have indeed seen the Smith's cheese section that you are referring to. It's definitely better than your average grocery store cheese counter. If you were impressed by that one, you'd like the one at the new Harmons in Draper even more, I think. It's huge, and a great selection, constantly staffed by people who are willing to hand you anything you want to taste.

The only thing I question at the Harmons cheese counter is their decision to put a table out with 3-4 wheels of official, stamped reggiano. The big ones. Worth several hundred dollars each. I may have been tempted to put one of those on the bottom rack of my cart, fill it with other groceries, and forget to pay for it on the way out.

Yes. Harmon's has stepped up the grocery quality in the area and Smiths is responding. We still shop at Maceys.

I've looked at some of those cheeses. $20/lb for some English cheese stuffed with blueberries? $180 for a small wheel of what?

I guess they're selling, because the selections keep growing.

TJ's has that really good tomato and red pepper soup in a box, so I was trying to think of a way to spice up the old grilled cheese and tomato soup.

So, I tried to improvise on a tartine that I like at a local restaurant. Toast baguette with olive oil, spread on chevre, place caramelized onions on top.

Not very conducive to dipping, but they still work really well together. I've liked it so much that I've eaten three out of the last four days for lunch.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I always thought Harmons had a better selection than its competitors, but we're talking about 6-8 years ago before I really cared that much.
