Best food item you've eaten this week?

    For me it's a toss-up. Either:

Raspberry salsa from Tagge Farm in Perry, Utah (and I typically don't like fruit salsas)

    or

Philadelphia cheesesteak macaroni and cheese. Surprisingly delicious.

I am headed to the MS State Fair tomorrow... I'll let you know then.

            Homemade gyros.

            Flatbread- check
            Lamb/beef blend- check
            Tzatziki cucumber sauce- check
            Red onion- check
            Tomato- check
            Lettuce- check
            Feta cheese- check

Served with a side of lemon pilafi. Would have wrapped spoonfuls in grape leaves but couldn't find any.

I was scrambling for dinner last night so I had to improvise and it turned out pretty well. I made a lemon rice pilaf, grilled lemon chicken and sauteed green beans. The kiddos seemed to like it, too.

Are you the one that always makes dinner?

Not always, depends on the week and our schedules. If I can, I do. My wife has been out of town this week for work, so I've done it every day so far.

Sure. Take two slices of bread, spread a thin layer of mustard on one, a thin layer of mayo on the other, then pile one a couple of layers of tofu pork substitute. Then add a piece of Velveeta cheese substitute. Voila!

how do you do this? I have had homemade gyros, but I can never seem to get it down pat. Obviously most folks don't have a rotating spit handy to roast a huge chunk of lamb. Is there a decent substitute?

I would love to be able to fire up some nice homemade gyros with lamb.

wow. so your ham and cheese sandwich contains neither ham nor cheese.

I didn't think it would be possible to mess up a "ham" and "cheese" sandwich.

Sure. Go to your local Mediterranean Grocery and ask for gyro meat. It's usually frozen though, like Steak-Umm.
