I felt the whole Don getting Married was a dream sequence. I was confused thinking that he was going to wake up. Pretty crazy ending. Where is this going? I am excited for season 5.

That's how we felt too. I was totally confused when he didn't wake up.

I don't watch the show (made it through about half of the first season), but I thought this write up in the Post was really interesting.

Thank you for posting that, Mrs. Funk. It is an excellent article that summarizes my points very well. I enjoyed it very much.

Agreed that it was an excellent article. I see the author is from Evergreen College, perhaps the most feminist college in the nation. I'm curious Robin, if you or Faith would feel more comfortable teaching at someplace like that? I hope that didn't sound sarcastic or snarky. You have stated your feelings very eloquently many times regarding both gays and women and I wish Faith would share hers more often; I'm genuinely interested in your response.

The article was fine, but I'm more interested / skeptical of the "book" the author is writing about the wives adn daughters of the "greatest generation." I predict 110% based on little clues she dropped in the article that it will be a hit job on the "greatest generation" arguing that they did what they did on the repressed backs of their wives and daughters. Her thesis was surely written before she even began the "200 interviews" -- "the greatest generation was not so great: finally the female side of the story"

FWIW I'm always skeptical when popular entertainment that is set in a particular era is described as The Way It Really Was Back Then. Real life is much more mundane (which is not such a bad thing, considering the pathetic lives most Mad Men characters live).

Get those people in a room, lock the door, and don't let them out until they have worked out a deal. This is ridiculous, and they are devaluing the brand they are fighting over.

I think this is how heaven works, by the way. Any grievances or family feuds are basically worked out by locking the peeps in a room and they're not allowed out until it's all reconciled.

I finally got around to watching this on Netflix. Got through the first two episodes. Meh. I think I'm done.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but I keep reading about the subtle writing. I actually find it way too full of stereotypes of sexism, smoking, and odd health beliefs--not really subtle at all.

I've moved on to Rome. In a word--awesome.
