Nice work. I have yet to drop the nuke. I was one kill away in TDM but no dice. I have had several streaks long enough but didn't have the nuke turned on

I need to start playing domination more so that I can pop my nuke cherry.

It's WAY easier on domination than TDM, especially if you are ground war sized teams. Get to the chopper gunner, get to a hidey-hole, and the nuke is yours.

      • for every nuke i've gotten, i've probably had ten chopper gunners that got shot down after 5-8 kills. it's tough even when you get to your streaks.

The trick is to find the guy with the launcher and take him out fast. But I agree that people are getting smarter about things like that. AC-130 may be a good alternative, as it's harder to bring down.

            LOADOUT

Primary: ACR w/ silencer (sometimes I will use the M16 w/ Holo too)
            Secondary: Akimbo Rangers/Spas 12
            Special 1: Claymore
            Special 2: Flashbang
            Perk 1: Scavenger Pro
            Perk 2: Hardline Pro/Stopping Power Pro/Cold-blooded Pro
            Perk 3: Ninja Pro
            Death Streak: Final Stand

Killstreaks: Harrier, Chopper Gunner, Nuke (replace Nuke with Predator if desired)

            INITIAL MOVES

If I start near the Villa:

See that heart near the store, sort of facing the bridge? It's at the top of a mini staircase. Run - don't walk - to that spot. You now have a great view down the bridge, AND you are really, really hard to see from the other end. Absolutely magnificent for two or three quick start kills - but don't hang about for long. Surprisingly few people know about/use this spot. More on this spot later.

If I start near the Gas Station:

Avoid all temptation to run straight down and across the bridge towards the store. I suggest either creeping down into the field and looking very, very closely for the guy who comes up to the second level of the store and picking him off if you are good long range, or running over to second level of the drugstore and looking down that bridge - but be careful. From there, you want to work to the neighborhood using the church entrance.

            GENERAL STRATEGY

There is a LOT to say here.

This map is a camper's paradise, which can either suck or be great, depending on how you play. I am a strategic player, but I'm not exactly a camper because I find that somebody is going to eventually get you before you get your killstreaks going. It's not a good idea to hang about in one place for more than a couple of kills, although the second floor of the Neighborhood is a great place to have claymore mayhem. Remember, be a Bedouin, not a permanent tent city resident.

You definitely want a long-distance weapon if you play like me. I use the ACR instead of the TAR because of the long distance accuracy (I rarely use sniper rifles, as they are not my thing).

I tend to range around the back near the stable/villa on the edges and pick people off (especially people coming from near the store), planting claymores in whatever places I see fit. There are TONS of places to place claymores on this map, and I've only pointed out a few. Remember, when placing claymore, think about what direction your opponent is likely to come from and place accordingly. Also make sure that the lines are NOT visible. As you may recall, the trigger range is slightly outside of those lines, and the damage range is even a bit outside of that (in my experience). Ask FN and Flyn how effective I am at claymores.

If you want to camp, the two best places are the second floor of the drugstore and the second floor of the Neighborhood. On the former, be sure to keep a low profile and check both the bridge and the main street/back underbrush on your side of the canal. On the latter, see where I placed the heart - you want to stay back in that room and not visible from the main hallway or you will die when somebody comes up from the church. If you have scavenger you can really mess people up with claymores (one time I killed the same slob 7 times in a row), but it's really hard to beat a retreat when you get outnumbered and it's a bad place to hide when you have a killstreak.

            TIPS

            1. Moving across the river canal: Really, there's only one way to do this semi-safely, and it is the drug store/church bridge. You sprint and jump over the railing into the canal, and then go up the stairs at the far south of the map. This is the safest way to do it. I will sometimes cross the north bridge if I'm confident my team holds it. I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever cross the middle bridge or get anywhere near it.

            2. You know that spot I sprint to if I start near the villa? You CAN jump the wall behind that spot, and this is very, very useful if you are outnumbered with people coming across the small bridge. What you do is sprint towards the wall, jump, and then jump again at the very top. There are a few places like this on various maps (notably Quarry) and I'm not even confident I've found them all.

            3. Stay out of the yellow areas unless you are hellagood at running and gunning and getting out of the way of sniping.

            4. As always, have a backup class with cold-blooded and a launcher to take down air support. I will immediately switch to that class the first time air support takes me out.

            5. There's a lot of action at the store and the cantina. I avoid going to these two places, but I will hang around in places where I can take out the people who go there.

            6. Finally, and as a rule, remember that (a) these strategies are really only good for TDM, and (b) I can only give you a small taste of my strategy when I do these write-ups. Use the knowledge in this write-up against me at your own risk!

Your write-up was lost in the never ending game of "My dick is bigger than yours!" As always, I enjoyed it. Thank you for the time that you have put into it. After countless hours of playing with you in this game, I can attest that your write-ups stay true to your in-game strategy.

I would like to add a few spots that I have seen good success with:

            1. Just north of the store there is a series of boxes along the fence. You can position yourself on these boxes and see the field to the west and the abandoned house. Most people in the field (even mentioned in niku's points of interest) are going to look for people on the second deck of the store. Even if they know that you are there, it is extremely hard to see you (your head will be the only thing that they can see).

            2. The small set of stairs just to the northeast of the stairs. Set a claymore right behind the boxes that are next to the stairs. This will get people that try to flank you from the Villa. Make sure that you have a silencer and cold-blooded on and set up shop at the stairs. Not all the way on the landing but just enough up the stairs so that you can see the store and look down the "yellow zone". The wall between you and the store will add as cover and you will be able to pick up 3-4 kills if the other team is camping the store. Once you rack up a few kills, this is the time to book it to the villa and take them out as they go to your last spot. Wash, rinse and repeat.

            3. If you have a sniper or a long range rifle (ie M16 or ACR) position yourself in the stables, on top of the hay stacks. Set your claymore to protect your flank. You will be able to see enemies from the villa and the store as well as those coming out of the church and through the corral. You can also snipe people out of the top of the boat house and if you position yourself right, the top of the drug store. I learned this spot the hard way.

            4. I couldn't agree more with niku's recommendation to avoid the yellow killzone at all cost. This is where I rack up a ton of kills. People will try to cut through this area and are easy to pick off.

            5. I really like to work the river back and forth. You have means of egress on both ends. Very rarely will people use this area to cut through the map and it a great way to flank the other team no matter what side they are on.

            6. Next to the stairs at the boat house, on the first level, you can get on top of the little shack that has the two pallets on top of it. Jump from the deck to the top of the crates to the top of the shack. Go into a prone postion behind the pallets. From this position you can see into the cantina as well as the fish market and the roadway that cuts between them. Remember to place the claymore at the door. Ref. the attached map by niku.

I will also add that I know of at least two spots that I have seen niku take advantage off and are not in the write-up. There are great spots through this map. This is one of my favorite maps to play.

            Thanks again to niku.

I have found that it is more effective to go with the AC-130 if you are playing ground war.

I love those boxes - usually because they are the first place I look when I am on the opposite side of the river and can get a quick headshot. But it's a great place to pop up and get a kill.

Another solid spot. This is definitely part of where I roam.

You didn't think I'd tell people everything about where I go, did you? I'm pretty sure one of the spots you're thinking of is the place where I nailed you with the Akimbo Rangers that time.

mine too. I heart this map. Your first love spot, I fight over with you. I usually lose as I set a claymore to protect the backside.

I am very fond of the corral area on that map. I can rack up some kills by roaming that area and the stable.

I used to place a claymore to protect the backside, but not anymore. I rush to the first spot, get two or three quick kills, do the special jump on the wall, plant the claymore and then snipe the middle bridge for another two or three. In a perfect world, the idiots who you just killed at the small bridge try to cross at the middle instead, and you get them too (just watch the second floor of the cantina!). And then when they try to get you by crossing at the far bridge and coming up to the second level, the claymore nails them. At that point, you should probably get the hell out of there and head for the stable.

That's because you began playing with Flynn. Homosexuality now seems normal with the Flynn-hawaiian around.

And that wouldn't even be in the ballpark of a noteworthy accomplishment.
