Interesting. I wonder if they kept data on when those gamers bought their systems. I'm also going to start a poll to see whether this percentage is true on CUF.

I found this bit of the article interesting:

The most shocking number from the survey — and frightening from a consumer perspective — is only 3.8 percent of Xbox 360 owners said they'd never buy another Xbox because of hardware failure.
There has to be something about the xbox that engenders so much loyalty. I wonder what it is....

I have a long queue of video games to work through and seeing that Sony just started bringing out the heavy guns in the past year with its outstanding first party developers, I unfortunately won't be catching up with the current edition of Modern Warfare (or whatever Infinity Ward's release will be next year).

After I work through the queue, I still have the XBox "exclusives" that I can buy for my PC, like Mass Effect 2 and Gears of War. There are a number of deals out there where you can buy a 360 and get a $50 gift card back from the retailer you're buying it from. Unfortunately, the dying Halo series, Gears of War 2 and exclusive download-able content that's only exclusive for a month isn't enough to entice me.

Meanwhile the PS3 has become a much more tempting purchase for Wii or 360 owners. While the 360's true exclusives and temporary exclusive downloads aren't really enough to tilt the scale towards the 360, inFamous, Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 1, Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Demon's Souls, Little Big Planet, ModNation Racers, Wipeout HD Fury, Killzone 2, Resistance 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank, etc... does make the PS3 a nice purchase right now. Thankfully for MS, Sony has had severe supply shortages in the US and MS still has healthy sales off of its planned obsolescence.
The PS3 is super tempting for 2 reasons: the blu-ray player and Tekken.

Its great for streaming stuff from your PC too. The xbox can do it as well, but its not as smooth (the picture is the same, buy getting there is a bit tougher).

              It's 2010 my friend, get MW2.
No way, I've got to play the single player stuff first to get good. I still have a grudge against FPS multiplayer games ever since I routinely got my ass pounded back in 1998 from Goldeneye idiot savants who sat around all day playing the game. Being self-employed and working 1/3 of the time for the same money as I used to make affords me the time to catch up. Plus it only cost $20. I've never spent $60 on a game and never will. Even for God of War 3, I bought it at KMart along with Uncharted 2 on sale (the two games together were $90).

BTW, KMart is the retail version of Hot Tub Time Machine. All of a sudden it felt like it was 1985 again and I was looking for the gold-headed Destro.

Since we bought the PS3, I have played exactly two non-game blu-rays in the machine. The difference in quality between a DVD (the PS3 upconverts them and they look great) and a blu-ray isn't big enough to justify the expense of going to Blockbuster for a blu-ray instead of a Red Box DVD dispenser.

However, the streaming Netflix has been awesome. I didn't know it did a better job at that than the 360.

Sony has an excellent network of first party/pseudo-first party developers and it appears as if they held off on releasing some pretty awesome games until the PS3 had some decent console sales numbers. In the last 12 months alone, Sony's developers have released inFamous, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Heavy Rain and God of War 3. ModNation Racers (from a development team closely associated with Little Big Planet), Gran Turismo 5 and Resistance 3 are all coming out at various times this year and Little Big Planet 2 is also rumored to be released shortly after the PS3 Move (the Sony version of the Wii and supposedly a lot better).

I think he was just saying the streaming from the PC is smoother-- not Netflix.

I got PC streaming confused with Netflix streaming. Never mind.

Are you referring to what I wrote above? To be clear, the actual streaming is the same (as far as I can tell). Its the PS3's dashboard that makes it quicker to start the stream that makes me go back to the PS3 over the xbox. Plus I like the PS3's remote more than the xbox remote.

                            • I've got both consoles. The PS3 is mainly used for playing DVDs. I'd say around 10-15% of my total gaming time is spent on the PS3. Sony has so much wasted potential. You really can tell that MSFT knew exactly what they were doing and went and did it right first with Xbox Live.

Dont you have to have the netflix disc in the PS3 for it to stream? Kinda dumb.
