Robert Bowling is the PR dude at Infinity Ward. Look at the carnage contained in his entire twitter feed.
DAMN! How did this happen! Infinity Ward must have a bunch of morons working for it. XBox 360 owners are like Fox News viewers: they're more numerous but they have little money to spend while PS3 owners are like the people who read the NY Times and CNN, they spend their money more freely and are thus more valuable per user. Judging by the total software sales this seems to be the case. Who knew you could sell fewer consoles yet sell as much software?

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

There were problems with the game and Sony's servers being unable to handle the capacity. When no one uses your console, and then you have a sudden spike in activity, there can be unexpected problems.

Honestly though, I'd like to think I am not a fanboy. I'll be getting a PS3 for Christmas so I can play some of the exclusives like Uncharted 2 and Infamous. So I'll own both consoles. I expect my time split between the consoles to be in the neighborhood of 80%-20% in favor of the Xbox because of Xbox Live.

the problem was not with sony's servers, the problem was with the third party servers they contract out to handle their online traffic (specifically the company demonware). i really wish, however, sony would implement some kind of system where users could pay to get decent dedicated server coverage. the p2p type connection where they have user hosted games can get really obnoxious, although the host migration feature in mw2 has been great so far.

Does anybody know why MW2 on the 360 forces you out of your xbox live party chat and into the game channel chat? Its incredibly annoying. Why are you making me talk to people I don't want to talk to? I end up just muting everyone but my friends anyway, but when I have a friend or two playing but that aren't in my game, I can't talk to them anymore. Stupid.

That is odd. What is everyone's K/D ratio so far? I have not played MP yet. I am hoping that this weekend I can pop that MW2, multiplayer cherry.

My K/D ratio sucks. I played some multiplayer last night for the first time ever. I played with my Bro in law who is pretty good and I was only getting 2 or 3 kills a game. It is a blast but I have a ton of improvements to make.

This game made 310 million dollars in the first 24 hours!

Go get you an Xbox and pick up a copy so you can get in on some Xbox live action.

The last shoot-em-up game I played was Super Contra on the NES. Am I ready to jump into something like MW2?

No, you're not ready, but there's no other way to get ready than to just start playing!

Same difference dude. Microsoft doesn't outsource to third party servers (I quess they have some sort of special arrangement with EA that is a pain in the ass and a different story altogether). Sony's online is broke, bottom line. Like I said, I'm getting one for Christmas, so try not to flame.

I played Xbox Live multiplayer from 8pm to 4am last night. My wife stormed downstairs last night at 3:30 and tore into me about being up late and something about being out of commission on Saturday blah blah blah. I didn't get most of it as I was trying to peer around her to see the TV. I was playing with my brother in China and a couple friends in the UK. Awesome.

Anyways, the online multiplayer for this game is absolutely sick. You customize everything. Weapon attachments, equipment, perks, deathstreaks, killstreaks (awesome!), titles and emblems (like Street Fighter 4). You unlock more and more as you play. My favorite perk right now is Bling, which allows you two weapon attachments at the same time on your primary weapon (I like the silencer and the holographic sight). My favorite guns are the SCAR and the RPD. The first night I played, my K/D ratio was a dismal .74. I've got it up to an unacceptable .95 right now. Gotta get that thing atleast above 1.0. The multiplayer maps are new and improved. They are much bigger and intricate than the previous game. You can tell they really spent alot of time on this multiplayer.

Just a little more on the killstreaks. There are something like 14-18 to choose from. You start out with three and unlock new ones as you level up (you choose which ones you unlock and in what order). You've got all the stuff from the first game like your basic UAV after 3 kills, to all new stuff where you can call in air support and actually fire on the enemies from above with a predator missile, a helicopter gunship seat, or an AC-130 gunship. The better the kills streak, the more kills you have to get in a row to earn them. (It's 11 kills in a row without dying to get the AC-130). My favorite right now is the care package (4 kills) because it randomly rewards you with one of the other killstreak rewards, so if you are lucky, you can have a Pave Low chopper called in after just 4 kills. Awesome. When you've gotten the 4th kill, you get a smoke grenade. You mark the drop zone with the smoke, and a chopper drops in a crate (I've already been killed by a damn crate dropping on my head). Even cooler, if your enemy calls in a care package, you can race over to it, kill him, and unlock his crate reward. SICK.

For the Xbox, alot of people are pissed about the fact that the game boots you out of party chat (PS3 owners, ask somebody) when you go into multiplayer. I think this is a result of feedback from IW's community members griping on their forums about how party chat broke game modes like Hardcore Search and Destroy in the previous game. If you died, you could be in party chat and still observe the game and tell your teammates where the enemies were. It's frustrating because I mostly play regular Team Deathmatch, but oh well.

This game is going to straight DOMINATE the Xbox Live activity metrics for the next two years. Take that shit to the bank homey. If you have been even somewhat interested in getting into online console gaming, GET AN XBOX AND GET THIS GAME. There's a learning curve ofcourse, and you will get pwned at first, but this is the best online multiplayer experience out there for a First Person Shooter game. Take the time, put in work, and get your skills up. You will love this.

                        • Hey guys, I'm looking for some people to play MW2 with. I'm an average player right now, K : D ratio of .85, only ranked at Specialist I. But just want to enjoy some games with some other people.

Great write up, CW. The only thing that I would add is the speed of the game play. It is significantly faster. Simply amazing.

I played for the first time last night and had a hard time peeling myself from the game to go to bed. I will be working off of 4 hours for church. Thankfully I have some opportunity to catch some zzzzzz's.

My k/d is lower that what I would like it to be. I have to learn the maps before it gets better. For now I will take the 1.45
