Art, don't let them play online, unless they're gay and your wife is dirty, in which case it won't rattle them.
You'll just pick up on specific reasons why when you are swearing. Lag, quick scopers, corner campers, n00b t00bers, etc...
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

My boys are all begging for COD (I think that is the same as Modern Warfare. Right?) for Christmas. I, and especially my wife, have always been pretty adamant against buying mature games. According to my boys, who have all played COD at friend's houses, there is some kind of parental controls to turn off the swearing. Is this true? I'm also assuming, the virtual special ops dudes, aren't breaking down the doors of brothels or strip joints, in this game.
There was question about it when you start the game the first time and I believe and it gave you the option to turn it off. I just blew right past it. Just warning you though, if your kids play multi-player online they will be exposed to everything you can think of in regards to language. There are no filters in the lobby or during the game at times, depending on who is on your team. Not sure if you can just put a permanent mute on that part of it. You can always mute players one by one.

while this is true, you can turn on "friends only" in the xbox live communications section and they will only be able to hear and talk to their friends.

Art, you could always restrict their voice communication to "friends only." But then, that won't work if they add some foul-mouthed friends. But at least they won't be able to hear all of the racist, disgusting masses out there. YOu could also monitor their friend lists and verify all the friends they add.
Edit: Crap (filtered for Art's kids), I'm slow.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

We only took the plunge on an X-box last christmas. I never signed up for x-box live. Are games like COD too boring just to play on our individual console and not online.
Wow, I feel old and out of touch. It is like when I tried to explain how email worked to my mom, for the first time.

No, your kids will love the game w/o x-box live. However, if their friends are playing online, its a sure bet they will start begging you to pick up an xbox live subscription.

Yep when you start the game for the first time you can choice to allow or disallow graphic content. Pretty cool feature.
That's not entirely accurate. I believe Treyarch does that with their COD games, but IW doesn't. When you start MW3, you'll get something that says that there's a mission that has disturbing content that you can skip, but saying that you want the option to skip won't turn off swearing during the campaign.
Anyone actually bought the Mtn Dew or Doritos for double XP? I was and 7 Eleven today and needed a drink so I looked an MW3 themed one but couldn't find one.
Also, any chance they make the game fuel in diet?

Yeah, the Mt. Dews are awful, but I'm all over the double xp. My kids will drink the soda, I'll get the 2x xp.
