You're probably right. At least they made some attempt to upgrade the WWII weapons with the "aperture" sights. I'm not sure whether I will buy Treyarch's next COD title. Especially since I think they're going back to WWII again!Originally posted by FN Phat View PostCod5 would have been great if it was made by IW

I actually liked COD5 more than most, but I also like movies such as Con Air and Bad Boys. The bouncing betties with scavenger would be sick, Nikuman would never have to fire a shot and would have 30 kills.Originally posted by falafel View PostI agree. When COD 5: World at War was announced as a return to WWII, you could hear the collective groan of gamers everywhere. Those bouncing betties were pretty sweet though. I'd take those over claymores.
I liked the maps too, but the game itself didn't have many new ideas, except for the tanks. I like how MW2 tried a lot of new things, like new killstreaks and perks, whereas COD5 seemed to try and find all the COD4 equivalents for WWII.

Lately I have been thinking about my abysmal kill stats. In most games, I'll have one of the lowest numbers of kills. So, in team games I've been trying to follow behind Tenveux, Socse and Utehater to try to learn their secrets, but for the most part I am watching them get mowed down the same as me. So why do they achieve so many more kills?
Well for one, all three are definitely better players than I am. Their K/D ratios are better, but not drastically better (except JTauk, who seems to be drastically better). So on average those (you)) three seem to go out and get a bit more than one kill per life. Lately I've been getting a bit below that, but my K/D ratio is still pretty close to 1. For one, I think I am a very conservative hunter. I linger a bit more. Which sometimes makes a sitting duck, and sometimes lands a duck in my lap, but either way, it isn't a style for running up the kills. But when I try to play more aggressively, my K/D ratio falls hard.
Anyhow, I'm definitely not the most skillful player, but I would definitely like to work toward getting more kills, even if it means more deaths.

I saw something on that the other day...Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostThey should move into Vietnam. That hasn't been completely exploited yet and COD hasn't touched it at all.
I played last night and sucked so bad.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/co...ours-resurfaceSpeculation that the Treyarch-developed Call of Duty 7 is set during the Vietnam War has resurfaced following an Activision call for motion capture and voice-over actors
The casting sheet outlines the roles of four central characters, the leader of which - Frank Barnes - works for the Studies and Observation Group (SOG) that's based in Vietnam. That setting is backed by the post-WWII descriptions of the three other squad members, although Vietnam is not specifically mentioned.

May I first egotistically point out that my KDR (1.51) is better than JTauk's (1.28). K, now that I've established myself as a jerk, let me just share my thoughts that work for me.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostLately I have been thinking about my abysmal kill stats. I think the game is a lot like baseball. With a runner on first and two outs, you're typically going to have him steal second to get him into scoring position. Most likely he won't have that opportunity since there's roughly a 25% chance that the batter will then get a hit, but you do that as a manager because you always want to give yourself the best chances and over time that will pay off.
Same goes for MW2, so here are just some of the things I can think of:
1. When I'm running down hallways and come to a turn, I'll stop running and be ready to shoot because who knows what is around that corner. 80% of the time no one, but you have to do it every time.
2. If it isn't a wide open space around the corner, I'll switch to my shotgun too. In small rooms ALWAYS have your shotgun out.
3. If i get a kill somewhat in the open and need to reload, I'll get down on my stomach to reload.
4. When I'm running around, I stay away from the middle of the road/hallway/whatever and gravitate towards boxes/objects that can protect me.
5. I would guess I get the first kill about 50% of the time, b/c you should know where they all go, and wait for them there (no shame)
6. Use your map, watch for the red dots and look for skulls to see where the action is happening.
7. Try and flank as much as possible, even if it takes longer
8. Use scavenger and always have at least one, if not two claymores planted at a time.
9. Use silencer and stopping power instead of cold blooded. If they get a chopper/AC130/seems to get a lot of UAVs...then switch classes in the game. With buildings to protect from air and Waup shooting down UAVs, I don't find cold blooded as useful.
10. Choose attainable killstreaks. Don't go for the chopper gunner just yet, try an airdrop/predator/harrier or something.
I'm sure others can add more.Last edited by filsdepac; 03-03-2010, 02:24 PM.

This is all very good advice. I've highlighted my favorites (I get a lot of flack for claymores, but I don't care). I do tend to use Danger Close a lot instead of Cold Blooded/Stopping Power. It's money if you are claymore guy, and the pro perk is double money for when you get your killstreaks in the air.Originally posted by filsdepac View PostMay I first egotistically point out that my KDR (1.51) is better than JTauk's (1.28). It's much better to walk than to run. Run only if there is a need or you are sure you're not exposed. Skulk around otherwise.
To be quite honest, you put me and some other guy in a blank room with equal guns and perks, and I probably lose more often than not. My 1.60 k/d (jerkdom one-upped!) is based on seeing you first and/or knowing where you are going to blow your head off with a claymore.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

I have been flanking a lot more, especially when we play mosh pit and games like Sabotage and HQ Pro. Also when you play games like that and everyone is in one tiny building trying to capture the bomb or HQ, grenade launchers are your friend. I have been getting lots of double and triple kills lately with the grenade launcher.*Banned*

Well mine is only like .7 or something, however I think the first month or two I played it was like .3 as I have never played an FPS before or any previous versions of this game before.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostI will be a jerk too. And this could be a good way to on paper tell who is better PS3 posse or Xbox bad asses. Mine is 1.20 last time I checked. I would guess that after Last night it brought me down to 1.19 or 1.18 I would guess. That is how bad last night was.
In fact I bought Socom Navy Seals a few years ago and never even opened it.
Lately I have been pretty consistent around 1 per game.*Banned*
