Star Wars under Disney has been so hit or miss that if it's not getting rave reviews I will generally just avoid it.
Part of the fun for me, aside from the fact that lightsabers and samurai-type stories are cool, is how all the pieces fit together in different places from other stories.

Watching Andor, Mando, Ahsoka, etc. I'll be all:

I guess it would be like homework watching Clone Wars or Rebels if you're not entertained, but... the whole point is that it's just for fun, so if it's not your cup of tea...

    • Love Ahsoka but then again I love the arc of the Clone Wars to Bad Batch to Rebels. I can understand the frustration of not knowing the backstories of the characters if you haven’t watched the animated series. My wife who hasn’t watched any of that stuff is liking it and there is enough innuendo and reference to have her interested so far without knowing the full backstory. Star Wars isn’t for everyone, but I will always have a connection to it because it is a binding link I have with my boys who are now in college. We are Star Wars nerds and enjoy almost all of it. (Lame speeders with “high speed” chases in Book of Bobafet and lame Princess Leia in Obi Wan be damned).

Andor is amazing and is the most accessible series to the casual fans that Disney has done.

Princess Leia in Kenobi was one of the few bright spots in that show... except for the chase scene with flea. But that's on the show runners. Not the actress. I saw the actress in an interview make fun of the scene were she gets smuggled out in Kenobi's trench coat.

My 10 year old son loves the OT and the prequels. He's watched Clone Wars and Rebels. He liked the first season of the Mandalorian but I can't get the kid to interested in anything else outside of Rebels in the Dianey era. But he really connects with the first 6 movies. Having him watch Ahsoka with me was like having to do homework. I have my theories about what he doesn't like but it looks like I'm watching Ahsoka alone.

          • I thought Disney was getting carried away with coming out with new stuff so quick; thought people would get burned out if you will, no matter how much they love Star Wars. Must say though all have been decent, some better than others for sure, but none have been 'bad'. So hats off to them, hope they continue in the same vein.

            • Unbelievable episode. I can't believe they pulled this off.

              • Another fantastic installment! Probably the best SW to come out since the Clone Wars finale.

                • So Ahsoka just wrapped, and I'm apparently the only one here who watched it, based on the activity in this thread. I'm pretty surprised people haven't discussed some of the things in that series that are -- to put it spoiler free-- pretty mind-blowing. Anyway, it is one the best SW series to date (a 7.9 on imdb compared to Andor's 8.4-- although Ahsoka does a LOT more than Andor in terms of world building, character exposition and story risk. 7.9 is pretty good for having so many women leave the kitchen and the changing table to act in it, you have to admit.), and the one that most ties into mainstream SW stories and characters. They also opened up a few more cans of worms that will come to fruition in future installments, including a big sub-arc payoff from the Clone Wars/Anakin, a full transplant of the non-canon Thrawn stories into the main post-ROTJ SW stories, and kernels of the end of the New Republic that segue into the sequel movies. Filoni and Favreau are really on a hot streak.

                  • I watched the finale last night. My son, whom I watched it with, hated it and thought it was boring. I thought it could have moved at a faster pace. It was pretty much a "Set-up" season, so we'll see what season 2 brings.

I did prefer Andor, but I didn't hate Ahsoka.

I've realized it is not my place to tell people they should not enjoy something they enjoy. So, I'll just say, I'm glad you are enjoying it and I'll leave it there.

Well, ok, I guess I'll say one more thing on top of that. At some point it dawned on me that they are asking me pay money to watch grownups play dress-up, and suddenly it all seemed very silly. I do miss the days before that realization hit, though.

I promised my son I would watch this series with him. I need to start soon.

Probably just his post- college/late adolescence hipster phase, looking for angles to get an edge on people he has contempt for. I wouldn’t worry too much.

I never said I’m better than everyone.

                              not denying it though.
