Timothy Zahn was consulted by Filoni on Thrawn to make sure he got the character just right. It seems like they will be incorporating that story- or at least some elements- into the new series.

Also, for those that keep up with SW, some cool things were announced last week at SW Celebration, including the new Acolyte series (late-High Republic era live action series that may or may not involve Darth Plagueis), Visions 2 coming out in May, another Tales from the Jedi, Bad Batch Season 3, Andor season 2, and a few new SW movies-- one including Daisy Ridley back as Rey 15 years after the events of the Rise of Skywalker, and one about the first Jedi that takes place 25k years before the original trilogy, and a movie by Filoni that works as a kind of 'Endgame' movie for the current live action series that are going to be happening.

What is your specific complaint? Because the only people that disliked the episode were people complaining ABOUT Jack Black and Lizzo.

The plot was ridiculous. A droid bar where they drink oil? Seriously? And Lloyd just gives up when caught ("It is true, milady")? And what is the point of the droid malfunctions? Just to tip over some garbage cans occasionally? Act temperamental? Why? What a pointless, dumb diversion.

The Jack Black character seemed completely emasculated. He was some kind of badass in the empire, but now he just looks fawningly at Lizzo and apologizes non-stop? I get that Hollywood is falling all over itself to always put the women in the positions of power (see the Mandalorian clan for example) and the males subservient, but at some point it just gets ridiculous.

And the acting is terrible all the way around, but it is tough to blame the actors when they are given such a ham-fisted script to work with.

I was a bit worried that the Thrawn trilogy would be the entire basis for the Ahsoka series, with Ahsoka and the Ghost crew taking the place of Luke and the OT crew. But it looks like maybe that won't be the case? I just think the Thrawn series is such a great story for Luke and I hope it can be adapted at some point in the future. I'll be disappointed if it is Ahsoka who brings Thrawn down though. I see no mention of Jorus C'baoth or Mara Jade in the cast list so far so I'll hope for the best.

I don't know why they are bringing back Rey because it's just too divisive. If Lucasfilm is looking for a win with their next film, why start with that? Oh well. We'll see how the other shows work out. I'll take them as they come. As long as they don't continue to sully Luke anymore I can get past most things.

The imbalance of women in positions of power has reached the point of over correction. It's fine if the characters are well written and exciting. But Bo Katan is not well written and her monotone delivery is boring.

I'm only on episode 3 and that one was a slog. I kept wondering if I was even watching a Mandalorian episode.

Obviously Filoni isn’t done w Luke— or at least he’s on the table as a character. I’m happy the crew of the Ghost is back- we’ll see if Ahsoka holds up as a live action character.

Yeah Star Wars is silly. But this was a diversion that served a couple of purposes in my estimation: 1. A side quest that set up Mandalore being officially recognized/ brought back from the dead in diplomatic conversations; 2. Reestablished Bo Katan as the leader with an earned Darksaber.

That this planet was Separatist and that Lloyd’s character was a Dooku fan boy was a pretty cool throw to the Clone Wars series. And explained why all the droids. BTW That droid bar (where they explained they aren’t just chilling drinking but are recharging w some kind of rejuvenating mechanical flush) was a little wink to the cantina in the first Star Wars where the droids had to wait outside after being told ‘we don’t serve their kind in here.’ I think Din even comments, ‘I don’t think they see many of our kind in here.’

Anyway, my understanding was that Lloyd’s character resented Imperial Jack Black coming in and taking power- as a Separatist would- so he was undermining public confidence in his regime by sowing chaos.

I love JB in everything. Since forgiveness/atonement is a major overarching theme of this season, some fan theories have Jack Black as a nefarious character who is quietly taking over a planet with the ‘redemption’ he was gifted and things go sideways as we know they eventually will. I don’t really think we see those characters again, but it’s not implausible I guess.

I kind of liked the Droid bar

I don't have a problem with Jack Black being in Star Wars, but that role wasn't a good fit for his shtick. He is an actor that you can't seperate his persona from. And he doesn't do straight well anyway. Lizzo was even worse. The bigger problem with the episode is that it's tough to take the storyline seriously if Lucasfilm themselves don't. Gimmick casting isn't serious so I won't take the episode too seriously.

I’m pretty sure Rey was wildly popular. A very tiny vocal minority griped about her, but that was very limited. Rey was probably the best thing about the sequels next to Adam Driver and Andy Serkis’ acting, and I’ll be happy to see John Boyega as a Jedi bc… c’mon you know it’s going to happen.

IMDB rating for last week's episode was 6.4. Lowest of the series by a mile.

In what world do you live where you believe griping about Rey was limited and by a tiny vocal minority? Those that create Star Wars content are evenly split on this issue. Critics acknowledge the shoddy way the sequels were constructed and the poor writing, the central complaint being Rey's lack of flaws . Perhaps TLJ's treatment of Luke accelerated the dislike of Rey among a lot of fans that wouldnt have occured if his storyline was less divisive. But the dislike is still there and money generated from the sequel trilogy declined with each movie.

Lucasfilm can do what they want. I don't care if this movie is made or not. Maybe in two years enough younger fans with no connection to the OT will come out in droves to see this new movie. It looks like Lucasfilm is banking on it.

Season 3 has certainly been a more boring experience than the previous 2 seasons. I haven't hated it but the plot has been moving forward more by exposition than character development. Relationship building has been lacking.
