Yeah, but the book anyway is a bit of a whodunnit. Lots of the intrigue is following the investigation and the informants, etc. I understand that the movie gets right to the point and you know who is behind everything from the beginning. I'm interested to see how they handle that.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostSounds like a super depressing story.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. Interesting. I've never been to Bartlesville but I konw a lot of people that still work there....for a very large oil company.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI've been looking forward to the film adaptation of Killers of the Flower Moon for a long time, and it's finally coming out, albeit not until October. With a great cast (DiCaprio, DeNiro, Lithgow, Jesse Plemmons, etc.) and directed by Scorsese, I hope it does the story justice--it's a very sad chapter of U.S. history. In the early 20th century, [we're told that] the wealthiest area (on a per capita basis) in the world was northeastern Oklahoma on an Osage Indian reservation. Oil had been discovered. Unsurprisingly, a lot of vultures swept in to grab a piece (or all) of the action. Several murders resulted in the Osage tribe's eventual loss of most of its wealth. Not sure if this will be part of the screenplay but a young FBI agent came from D.C. to help with the investigation and to make a name for himself (J. Edgar Hoover).
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Just because you read so many books and I only read P.I. novels.

I'm not at all sure I want to see The Beekeeper, as it's a Jason Statham movie, but I like the premise. From the preview it looks like a kindly older woman (Felicia Rashad) kills herself because she got scammed by one of those call centers that implant bugs on gullible people's computers then charge unconscionable amounts when one calls the provided help number. Statham's character does what we'd all like to do to such businesses. It also helps that the ultimate bad guy is Jeremy Irons, but I'm still unsure. The preview, even just the first 60 seconds, probably covers it.

I love how the first thing you see is "this preview is rated G", and then the rest of it is gratuitous violence.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI'm not at all sure I want to see The Beekeeper, as it's a Jason Statham movie, but I like the premise. The Beekeeper is awesome. Statham really really really hates elder abuse. Highly recommend it.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI'm not at all sure I want to see The Beekeeper, as it's a Jason Statham movie, but I like the premise. I am interested in watching it, but why does it have such low ratings?"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
