I’m not a big film watcher in general. I haven’t seen a single Wes Anderson film.

Yep. This is where I am. Somewhere around Moonrise Kindgom or Budapest Hotel it sank in—these are all unique enough to be amusing, but much too similar to be truly entertaining for me anymore.Originally posted by falafel View PostI like Wes Anderson films (I used to say I loved them), but it feels like he just stopped evolving. Or, perhaps, he just continues to boil the same sauce down to its most reduced state. But actors keep signing up to do them. I wonder if being in his films is kind of like being in a Woody Allen movie. Lots of actors would like to say they've been in one of his movies just to check that box.

My wife and I are huge Wes Anderson fans. I can't wait.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostWes Anderson movies are so identifiable, I suspected from the mere thumbnail that was one of his offerings. That's a veritable who's who of Hollywood actors, though. He always lands the big names.

I saw Creed III the other day-- I am a complete sucker for all the Rocky movies. They are like pizza to me...

One imagines Ray at the entrance to heaven, being asked what he did with his life, "Well, I starred in a number of movies, including Goodfellas, Field of Dreams...."Originally posted by clackamascoug View PostWhat a movie for Ray to go out on. I laughed - I cried - I cheered - all in a 2 minute trailer.
Can't wait!
Unimpressed, Peter replies, "Anything else?"
"Cocaine Bear!"
"Well, then, come in in!"
At least I hope that's reflective of the standard.

I watched A man called Ove Friday night. It wasn’t as good as I hoped. The wife did a great job, but with the story, I couldn’t figure out what she saw in him short of some kind of Florence Nightingale syndrome where she wanted to fix him, considering he didn’t demonstrate any real redeeming qualities.
As far as movies portraying the virtues of cranky old men, I think I prefer the Bill Murray’s movie St Vincent.
