We saw this last night. Agree on Yellow Ledbetter. This might make you laugh. When it started playing I said to Super "is that Jimmy Hendrix" because the guitar intro is Hensrix-esc ( I think anyway) and she said "you have completely forgotten the 90s."Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostWell, finally saw this, long after I intended to. Other than using an obvious Vancouver as a stand in for Seattle, I really, really liked this. At some point I apparently missed the Bryce Dallas Howard hotness transformation, because, wow, what a babe she is in this thing. And Yellow Ledbetter at the end? Awesome.
Spoiler for Ending:Totally thought he was going to die.

Disagree. Actually, I don't remember the previewsOriginally posted by Viking View PostMeh. The previews had the best scenes
But I disagree on the premise that there was way more than 120 seconds of enjoyment in the movie."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

It was probably closer to 240 seconds to be sure. This movie was a struggle to make it through. There was little that wasn't totally predictable about this one, had Grace's spoiler above been accurate at least it would have not followed the formula exactly.Originally posted by Commando View PostBut I disagree on the premise that there was way more than 120 seconds of enjoyment in the movie.Get confident, stupid

I thought it was OK but I was expecting it to be better based on the reviews. Seth Rogen really cracks me up.
Spoiler for Ending:I really didn't like the way the surgeon comes out at the end and says that he's going to be OK. There is no way any surgeon is going to resect a malignant tumor from the spine and then immediately pronounce the patient cured. I think any surgeon is going to manage expectations and just say that there would still be risks of not only surgical complications but recurrence of the cancer.

So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Darn it. I just got this on Netflix (dvd) due to a high (8.0) IMDB rating. I guess I will just send it back unwatched. Either that or go in with very LOW expectations."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Your characterization of what was said was not accurate, but beyond that, I just always roll my eyes at these types of comments. When he went in for chemo my wife mentioned that they inserted the needle or tube or whatever in the wrong artery or vein. I think my response was "who gives a shit?" Whenever someone's profession becomes the topic of consideration, they just love to tell us how much they know about the subject. I was watching a legal thriller once with a friend from law school, and he just blabbed on and on about how it was a totally innaccurate portrayal of courtroom proceudre. I think I also said "who gives a shit?" to that one too. My dad hates Rocky because of his boxing technique. I just don't get it. It's like the only way you can enjoy a movie without getting hung up on the technicalities is to be entirely ignorant of the subject matter. But now this rant is starting to sound like The Hurt Locker discussion again. Btw, I have since watched The Hurt Locker with a friend who is in the army and he got all butt-hurt about the way they rolled up their sleeves and what uniforms they were wearing. lol.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View Post

Hell, I'm not saying this to demonstrate my knowledge or impress people.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostYour characterization of what was said was not accurate, but beyond that, I just always roll my eyes at these types of comments. The dude had a malignant tumor in his spine. It was too big and extensive to operate on so they decided to give chemo first to try to shrink it. The tumor was NOT responding to chemotherapy, not shrinking at all. So then they do surgery and the surgeon comes out and says "He's going to be OK." I don't think you have to have any medical background to know that's pretty damn unrealistic.
You were right, he should have died. That ending didn't fit at all with the way things were going up to that point.
Edit: For the record I watched this with my wife and didn't ruin it for her by dropping knowledge

This movie sucks. I told Clueless: "this guy better not die or this TV is going through the window". I won't reveal the fate of the tv but just watch the preview, laugh a little, and save some $$/time.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostDarn it.
