Saw that this thing finally made it to the US. What was the hold up?
I don't know. But I want it. I know some have spoofing UK email addresses and zip codes to get in on it but those accounts seem to be limited, even more than the typical free accounts. It appears you can sign up for the paid accounts right now though but I want to give this thing a test run first. Sounds unreal though.
I just signed up for the $4.99 unlimited account to try it out. Figured I could cancel if I don't like it. If you sign up for the account you don't have to wait for an invitation.
It is awesome. You can look up and play virtually anything. Interface is beautiful. It integrated music from your local drive into the player also. At this point I would say it is definitely better than Pandora or Grooveshark.
Now I have two invitations I can dole out. Hmm....

I think its more like Pandora, except you get to pick out what music you listen too instead of just getting a mix. You can pick songs and albums to listen whenever you want, but I think its only streaming. No downloading.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

OK, the bloom is off the rose. I am finding more and more songs that are "currently unavailable". I don't know if it is a server capacity issue or a licensing issue (I doubt it - it changes every day), but either way this is not cool.
The spotify people claim that it is a temp problem and that they hope to eventually have access to virtually everything 24/7, but they aren't there yet.

OK, a week or two later and I am sold. A few holes in the selection, but not much. Being able to look up and play just about anything is awesome.
I am a fan of live music so I am enjoying looking up various artists and finding their live albums.
Well worth $5 per month.

I've had a few issues here and there, but I agree the available catalog seems to be very good. Not sure I'm willing to for over a whole $5 a month (!) though. I am getting sick of hearing that one ad for the song "Where dem girls at, girls at!"
