I heard this song in a coffee shop the other day and was reminded of it.
Holly came from Miami, F.L.A.
Hitch-hiked her way across the U.S.A.
Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her legs and then he was a she
She says, "Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side"
He said, "Hey honey, take a walk on the wild side"
It's hard to top this for opening lyrics that actually mean something, for poetry, and to grab your attention. The melody is pretty attractive too. This is one of the great underappreciated classic rock songs -- despite its fame or infamy -- probably because of the controversial subject matter.

I agree. Marky Mark is a talented lyricist, actor, and underwear spokesman Kate Moss groper.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
I wouldn't expect donut to recognize the lyrics, since it has nothing to do with the 8th month of the year. Unlike the bands he seems to like. RCV, I would allow you to use your usual Rexburg isoloation excuse, but i know for a fact many a Kraco was ironically blasting, "Enjoy the Silence" around Ricks, back in the day.
