  • I haven't ever seen this show. But it can't help but want to participate in the discussion!

The gay guy I work with watches the show and LOVES it.

He tells me that the one thing he's learned from this show is that us heterosexuals have WAY more backdoor sex than he ever imagined.

Should I have used spoiler tags for that?

Tell your gay friend that we straights don't count doggystyle as backdoor sex.

If Mance bends the knee to King Stannis, he loses all respect from the Wildings and they probably kill him before they start warring again among themselves like they had been doing for generations. But if Mance is a martyr, maybe the Wildings stay united.

Agree. Will be interesting to see how Stannis manages the Wildings. Stannis is pragmatic so I think something will be worked out. The Wildings know the only chance they have is getting south of the wall. Stannis knows he cannot control the North without help from the Wildings and will soon learn of the realities of the White Walkers. What's the saying, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend?" I don't see a major confrontation between Jon Snow and Stannis and the Lady in Red will probably factor into it.

You miss the point. It's too simplistic to think Cersei hates the future wives of her sons because she's mean to everyone. Otherwise, why make enemies with your future in-laws? Even Cersei would know that will cause problems down the road - unless she knows in advance that one of them will cause her downfall. In my view, it provides greater explanation on Cersei's character and motives.

Yes, sexual relations as depicted on a fictional HBO TV series are a direct reflection of the sexual habits of the general public.

You'll have to forgive him. He's a 40 year-old virgin with no prospects (active LDS and wants to stay that way).

So his only context for human sexuality is what he see's on fictional HBO TV series.

            • I'm not aware of a single instance of anal sex on GoT.

In the books, the prophecy given to young Cersei includes something about a younger brother causing her great harm as well, which explains some of her paranoia about Tyrion. It seems they're down-playing that angle in the show.

Oh, now that's interesting. Is Jamie younger than her?

SPOILER: Cersei and Jamie are twins.

To answer your question: Yes, Jaime is the younger of the twins. But it's hard to picture Jaime as the "younger" brother that would cause Cersei harm; at least Cersei doesn't see it that way. But the story isn't finished yet so maybe that would be an interesting story line. If it becomes important, wonder if there will be another flashback (with that part of the witch's fortune telling included) since they've opted not to include that part in the show for now (per Woot).

                        • The prophesy about the end of Cersei coming from another queen, I don't think, is referring to Marjory Tyrell. They're going to save Cersei's demise for Dany Targaryan.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                          • for those of you who have read the books I am very happy with the way they altered Tyerion's post-patricide story arch. It looks like a big departure from the books, but very necessary considering how awesome Peter Dinklage is (an no, I am not talking about any possibility of Tyrion being killed and this is not a spoiler). There are several pretty big departures that were set up last night but I think all of them potentially will make the story much better. I am looking forward to seeing where the HBO writers take this.

I'm excited to see where they take the story. Since we will never get another book, I'm okay rhay they are going to start moving past the books.
