Joffrey's heir would be his younger brother Tommen. I think the Lannisters and Tyrells need one another to rule Westeros. The rest of the fiefdoms seem to be otherwise occupied: Boltons vying with Greyjoys over control of the North recently vacated by the Starks; Freys consolidating control of the Riverlands from the Tullys; Baratheons finding religion (Lord of Light) after being defeated. Not a peep from House Arryn in the Vale (lost and forgotton?). The wild card seems to be House Martell and Dorne but haven't heard if they even have an army - they seem to me to be stuck in the 60's (make love not war).
    Spoiler for Spoilers:

Anyway, looks like Tyrion will be charged with the crime: guilty or not. Wonder if he will request a trial by combat. The first time he did he requested his brother Jamie fight for him but had to settle for sellsword Bronn. I find it interesting that Bronn is training Jamie and Jamie and Cersei seem to have had a falling out. Wonder if Jamie will stand up for younger brother Tyrion in the face of his accuser Cersei; forcing Cersei to choose between having her former lover and father of her children die in a trial by combat in order to execute her other brother Tyrion. And would their father Tywain Lannister let it happen?

    • The former Bond girl (and if you ask me she's just as hot as she was in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, rrrrowrr!), was very interested in what kind of monster Joffrey was from the beginning and especially wanted to know what had happened to Sansa. Having Marge engaged to Joffrey was a means to draw the Tyrell's closer to the ruling family, the Lannisters. The heir after Joffrey is his little brother Tommen. As we saw with the girl in between Joffrey and Tommen, this world isn't against forced engagements with people that are way too young.

So, Diane Rigg wanted to get rid of the sadistic, dangerous Joffrey and have Marge engage and marry the boy who is presumably more pliable and manageable than Joffrey.

What else can the Lannisters do? The Tyrells are by far their best ally. They're not going to betroth Tommen to anyone else and risk the Tyrells withdrawing their support.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

      • It has to be someone who wants Tyrion killed as well.

They made it too obvious a killing and whisked Sansa away.

In the end I don't think it's really going to matter who killed him whether it was the witch, his mom, the Tyrells, the Dornes, Little Finger, as almost everybody wanted him dead.

I think it's to advance the story, we've all wanted Joffrey dead for 3.25 seasons and now we will see what happens.

I saw nudity as an advisory but didn't see any in the episode, did I miss something?

I think it's obviously the Tyrells. Something with the necklace that joker gave her and the wine. They made it a point to show the Mother Tyrell pawing at Sansa's necklace. Unlike that stupid HBO show I think they will fire Chekhovs
        Gun.

I don't think it would necessarily need to be someone who wants Tyrion dead. I don't think anyone knew that Joffrey would make Tyrion his "cup-bearer". If the poisoner wanted to directly frame Tyrion, they would have to know that he would be publicly handling the King's wine. I think whoever killed Joffrey didn't care who got the blame as long as it was difficult to trace it back to them. Though Tyrion would have likely been suspected no matter how the poisoning played out, I think the only reason he was immediately accused and arrested was because of how Joffrey treated him at the feast. To me it seems more likely that it was a series of unfortunate events that resulted in his arrest.

It was the Sansa grab and the locale of the wedding that made it seem as if Tyrion played a part of it.

I think the immediate blaming of Tyrion was just a bonus.

That is a good point. Sansa leaving would point to him.

It was a main point of the episode. I was disappointed that Theon didn't slit his throat when he had the chance.

Sorry. I called him Ramsay Bolton due to the books, but that was before I became aware of the hostility towards them.

I love how you think you're smart because you've read the book and you can come here to those of us who purposely don't read it and try to dangle carrots like we give a shit. Seriously, asshole- GTFO.
