I liked Tyrion's line early, "We may have defeated them but we still have us to contend with," the Hound's interaction with each Stark sister, and a couple of other lines, but that was it. I thought the accuracy, number, and firing frequency of the anti-dragon weapons was absurd, but then I remembered I was watching dragons.

Honestly, going back to GOT nerddom, I think they should learn a lesson from the Knight King and fog up the party before they bring down the hammer. Why couldn't the dragon create a giant mist/fog by flaming the water for a minute and then just wrecking the ships while they are in disarray?
And I think this episode was very utilitarian- not a payoff episode, but just setting up the dominoes, so I didn't find myself complaining about it or annoyed. 1. We got a denouement of the battle at Winterfell and closure. 2. We got the turmoil inside the Dani/Jon relationship and foreshadowing the conflicts there. 3. We are reminded of how much we hate Cersei and we're all amped and bloodthirsty for her, the Mountain, and her wizard to die in the worst way.
And could they make Theon's uncle more punchable? That's going to be a good one when he dies, too. Hopefully stabbed in the temple by Frodo or something..."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

It appears as if Qyburn figured out how to make a weapon that is about as powerful and effective as a current naval artillery gun -- all without gunpowder, rubber or plastic. The showrunners deserve a lot of credit for the look and feel of the show and the adaptation of Martin's early novels in the series. But since they have had to write the rest of the story on their own, it's been a bit of a letdown after Season 6.
Why have them go north of the wall in Season 7? The last episode depicted literally a wave of the dead just engulfing the Dothraki in their initial cavalry charge. Just have the mass of zombies claw a tunnel under or through the Wall last year. Then have an initial battle below the wall where the Night King takes out the first dragon. During the battle of Winterfell last week, the second dragon could have been taken out by the zombies jumping on and overwhelming it (kind of like Drogon).
Creating Euron's character late in the game and making him this omnipotent playing field leveler has been kind of lame. Yes, I think Qyburn could create a massive crossbow that could be effective in short distances -- no a short distance is not longer than around 100 yards. Level the playing field by guarding the Red Keep with a dozen of these crossbows. But what happened last night was ridiculous.
Why make the protagonists so consistently stupid? Has Tyrion been right about anything since he left King's Landing at the end of Season 4? What the hell was Bran doing with the crows during the battle of Winterfell? Why don't they use him to spy on Euron's fleet?Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Most of these questions and complaints are way, way, way, way, WAY too nerdy for me to touch, but I also have been a little annoyed about Euron's character coming so late in the game and being so important and impactful to the story.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostIt appears as if Qyburn figured out how to make a weapon that is about as powerful and effective as a current naval artillery gun -- all without gunpowder, rubber or plastic. Since I'm positive life force - let's look at the good things in 8-04.
- Honoring their dead was a good way to move on.
- The show is setting up Dany for a fall. She gives River Run to Gendry, when she full well knows that she's not the rightful person to be handing out largess.
- Dany is pressing hard for Jon to lie - so she can keep her pole position.
- Dany's stump speech for the crown from day one - "I'm the rightful heir to the throne." Now that she know's she's the "rightful heir" she's becoming just another power grabber.
- Firming up the differences of Sansa and Dany. Making Dany look manic and power hungry. Part of the continuing trend of Dany failing at her coup.
- The conversation between Varys and Tyrion - was most excellent. That scene - setting up future events, with Varys even saying that he's willing to die... that's a big deal.
- The half-cocked attempt to take out Greyjoy and his ships was also setting up that Dany's luck has turned in every direction and her leadership is failing.
- Mesidenry's head being chopped at the end is a harbinger of "nobody is safe" and "nobody knows" where this thing is going.
That's what I want in a TV show - to be kept on my toes. Right now - with only two episodes left - I've no idea where this is going - and Cersi might even pull it off in the end.
I'm thinking - all three mains die in the end - and Gendry is the ultimate winner after the apparent winner is disqualified after running too wide coming off the rail and loses their head.
