Listened to the Retrospective compilation tonight - a friend once dared say that it seemed like eighties synth. I can promise you that we are not close friends anymore.

The album is out. Viking and I are having a listening party. If he were still here, this is what he would say, "the new Rush album is their best ever. Incredible."

Or maybe that is what he said.

We were flipping radio stations the other day and my wife says "hey, this is Rush!" I gave her a "how the hell did you know that" look since I can probably name two Rush song max. She said she knew it from I Love You, Man. ha.

MG... go listen to The Garden. It's such a wonderfully crafted song. The perfect farewell.

This album, in my opinion, is their masterpiece. It's in fact the first full concept album (b-sides on 2112, Hemispheres, AFTK, etc. were not part of the "concept"), which makes it entirely unique amongst the discography.

I like the story. It's pretty cool. The following lyric is NEP's best ever and mean a lot to me:

"I have stoked the fire on the big steel wheels
Steer the airship right across the stars
I learned to fight, I learned to love, I learned to feel
Oh I wish that I could live it all again

All the treasures, the gold and glory
It didn't always feel that way
I don't regret it - I'll never forget it
I wouldn't trade tomorrow for today
Some days were dark

Some nights were bright
I wish that I could live it all again "

You may not like them. Most don't, including that douche bag Jann Wenner. However, if you like music, you will like "The Garden". It's a must have for any music collection and it's their finest composition, ever. It's also, sadly, I believe, their farewell.

Ironically, La Villa Strangiato has a heavy jazz influence.
