I'm just two episodes in, but High Score is very enjoyable. It's a history of video gaming in the U.S. from pre-Atari up to, I presume, the present. Lots of interesting footage about the early Atari and then NES games. It'll bring a nostalgic tear to many here, I'd expect. Episode Two includes Jeff Hansen who became a Nintendo World Champion and later served an LDS mission (to Tokyo, naturally). Recommended.

BTW, the documentary lightly touches on the worst Atari game ever, ET. There is a whole documentary on that game and the demise of Atari. It turns out that millions of those game cartridges ended up in a landfill in New Mexico along with some other Atari game bombs:

Yeah I love that one. I did play E.T. on Atari but I was too young to be pissed off about how bad it was. I was used to being disappointed by Atari after playing their versions of Pac Man and Donkey Kong. E.T. was especially confusing, though, and we always had way more fun playing Jungle Hunt, basketball, or Combat.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostThanks for the pointer... What you dissin' on the Beautiful Meatball?Originally posted by Commando View PostYeah I doubt you're into My Chemical Romance, but Gerard Way is the creator of The Umbrella Academy. He's a fantastic visual artist- much like Marilyn Manson, and his music isn't bad, either, kind of unlike Marilyn Manson. Those MCR music videos were pretty awesome.
I'm halfway into season 1-- I'm a born skeptic, so it's taken me a while. So far pretty fun. Reminds me a bit of the Watchmen movie, but a lot more comedy relief. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Ha. I like MM just fine, but he's kind of a one-note pony. It's not gonna be any shows with just him, a kitchen stool, and an acoustic guitar. OH that reminds me of how shocked I was to learn that Billy Corgan taught him to play guitar.... and realizing they probably didn't meet until they were both pinnacle-level famous. MM just isn't a musician. An insane showman, but not a musician.Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View PostWhat you dissin' on the Beautiful Meatball?Last edited by Commando; 08-24-2020, 01:49 PM."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! Do I dare ask your opinion on Rob Zombie? Do you enjoy digging through the ditches and burning through the witches and slamming in the back of his Dragula!Originally posted by Commando View PostHa. Anyone else checked out the new documentary series (Un)Well? Each episode covers an element of the healing/wellness industry. Episode 1 is on essential oils. Lots of Utah/Idaho/Arizona links and features Utah companies doTerra and Young Living. I wanted to throw my remote at the screen a few times. These folks are shameless.
It also features a couple in the south (alabama? georgia?) that do podcasts and training courses on essential oils. They basically promote it as a quasi-religion - more vomit inducing segments. The wife is a former beauty queen and the husband is quite clearly a closeted gay dude. At one point he gives her a peck on the cheek and the body language is hilarious."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? A friend of mine from high school is deep into MLMs at the the highest level (think presentations of large checks on stage in Asia while wearing a tux). His whole family is in it and they basically run one to the point of saturation and then start a new one. Recently his wife became the "CEO" of a new MLM selling fitness gear. And he is the Chairman of the Board.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostAnyone else checked out the new documentary series (Un)Well?
