Listened to this on the drive home from New Orleans a couple of weeks ago and was entertained. I am reading the sequel Catching fire and it is entertaining as well. They aren't going win any writing awards but the books are fun.

I got hooked on this reading it to my 9 yo son at nights. I'd read a chapter and then he'd read on until he fell asleep, so I got an interrupted story line. I liked it so much though that when he was done, I went back and read it front-to-back. We just ordered the third and final book in the series.

Great, fun read with lots of potential discussion points with kids.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

      Team Peeta.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I enjoyed both of the first two books. I downloaded the third book onto my Kindle today and will start reading it tonight.

These books are all the rage amongst the Twilight-Reading Relief Society crowd, it seems. Also "The Uglies" Trilogy.

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

At least—unlike Twilight—The Hunger Games features a strong, independent, mostly self-sufficient female protagonist.

As does the Junie B. Jones series.

Oh, good hell. We read the first in this series for book club. Fortunately, this was one I'd bought as an ebook so I couldn't chuck it at the person who suggested the book when discussion day rolled around.

Junie B. Jones is awesome. My favorite is the one about when she lost her tooth.

My book group, which has four J.D.s, a M.A. in British Literature student, and three others of various English backgrounds, and we did Peter Pan last month. In the previous months four out of six months, we have also done YA literature. The month I hosted, we did Great Expectations.

What's gives? I like YA well enough, I suppose, but I don't understand why adult women get together and read it.

I agree that they aren't going to win any awards for their writing, but the series has been very entertaining. I read the first two books in about 2 weeks total, and more importantly, I didn't fall asleep at night within the first 10 minutes, so its gotta be good.

My 9 year old got the 3rd book in the mail yesterday and is already about 200 pages into it. I suspect that both he and my wife will be done with it by the weekend.

Just stayed up obscenely late to finish Mockingjay. And interesting and somewhat enigmatic ending. I'm interested in knowing if anybody else has finished.
