The most development we got this time around was Lady Lawyer gets drunk, loses control, and morphs into Morning After Lady who aquiesces to Aromatherapy discs. I was a bit annoyed at the tagline for the episode: "A tragic crash sets off a day of reckoning for the Norris family." I was kind of hoping the crash was the company jet, but no such luck. Guess it was the truck crash they opened with and barely mentioned again. Also, Demi Moore has been mourning for the last 3 episodes. She had a great first episode and then the last two were just.. like I was waiting for her to do something. Then when she tired, and I was like, "oh, shoot, here we go," it was a big nothing. Demi Moore is too good of an actor to be wasted like this. I did really enjoy some of the soundtrack in the most recent episode. The vocalizations during the Monty cemetary scene reminded me of Vikings.
I disagree that Demi Moore is a good actor.

I think they go too over the top with the wife and daughter.

The latino widow is super annoying. End that storyline.

But overall I still really like the show. Billy Bob is outstanding. Too bad they killed off John Hamm.

Episode 7 of Landman guest starred Billy Bob Thornton Johnson.

            It was a small role.

Man, this season of Landman is a dud.

The whiny gold-digging ex-wife and her dopey shallow daughter are boring as hell. Put them in the company jet and have it crash.

And wimpy cooper getting jerked around by the needy bipolar widow is a terrible waste of screen time. She is one of the most annoying TV characters ever.

I will probably keep watching for now purely due to Billy Bob, but I hope they turn this around. The cartel angle could be interesting but they have squandered it so far.

This is not the opinion of an old crank. Most people agree with me. Case in point (see the entire thread):

I think it would be fantastic if the Cartel accidentally killed off his wife and daughter in a freak retaliation meant for Billy Bob. Put the Billy Bob and Andy Garcia directly at odds.

And, I think the entire fanbase would cheer which would be heard around the world as we all watched at the same time. lol

                    Yes! Make it happen.

Then have Cooper grow a pair and dump the dumb widow.

Good grief.. The attempts to make the Mom seem sad as she drops her bratty daughter off the "Cheerleader Camp" was so ad nauseum. I mean, they made her a fake-socialite who is so vain that she never even cared about her daughter but now she is all in stitches dropping her off..

Next up. Nieman Marcus for Mom and daughter gets roommate from Minneapolis with a pet ferret and has pronouns. This should be good.....

The roommate arc was kind of fun. The twist is that Billy tells his wife and daughter he doesn't have a job, and they have to cut back. The daughter is forced to live with the pronoun girl.

I haven't watch this yet, but the clips I have seen have been funny.

I think that it's actually well-established that Angela is overly-emotional when it comes to her kids. In Season 1, Tommy told her to take a bar of Xanax in order to deal with Cooper being in the hospital. In Season 2, she nearly had a breakdown when faced with the possibility of Cooper's engagement, and reacted pretty strongly to Ainsley in that moment. She's vapid, sure, but she's attached to her kids. The week of camp seemed like it was a week before classes started, what with the same dorm and room assignments as the semester.

And speaking as someone who just dropped off his oldest to college... it wasn't far from the truth.

Most of the rest of the episode was pretty terrible writing, but that I could believe.

I also remember in season 1, his daughter just showed up out of nowhere while his ex-wife was sitting poolside sipping drinks and planning her divorce. She is emotional mess but it isn’t about her kids. I mean, she becomes an emotional hurricane when she was on her period which they made part of one episode.

I will agree, dropping a kid off to college is an emotional one. Usually it hurts hard as you drive away.

But, she just wants to be one of the girls. Sirs poolside with her daughter and the rest of the cheerleader squad.. She is just beyond annoying.

I went back and looked at the first episode. The reason Ainsley showed up was because Angela and rich Stepdude were vacationing for a week. Didn't want to leave her alone because she had Football dude as a boyfriend. Didn't want to let her drive, so Tommy acquiesces and lets Princess take the company jet with other employees. Then, for the last 2 seasons, she only rarely does anything alone. It's always with Ainsley. She's definitely a mess, and it's not just because of the kids, but acting emotional when something involves the kids is in-character.

They confirmed BBT's being replaced, so that should mean the summary eviction of non-company personnel from that house.
