I’ve come to appreciate the Pacific more than the first time I watched it through. It is not BoB for sure, but BoB had one author who told the story. Pacific was patched together from three books. In addition, the PTO was just a hellhole. It’s like the e tire series has the same misery factor as the battle of the bulge episodes in BoB.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
After finishing a rewatch of BoB recently, I am now halfway through a rewatch of the Pacific. You are correct, it is not as good. Great production values, but a totally different feel. BoB had characters that you grew to love. TP has an entirely different feel. Non-stop darkness and trauma and not particularly likable or sympathetic characters.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

The war was hell on both fronts. BoB told a compelling story about people and heroism and brotherhood during horrific times. TP just focused on the horror and trauma.Originally posted by Green Monstah View Post

There was heroism in the Pacific series. But, I agree, the series was really dark. And deservedly so, I suppose.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

Shrinking Season 2 was fantastic. Just finished Bad Sisters Season 2 and also found it to be very solid. I think I liked it better than Season 1 because they did almost too good a job making that husband evil in the first season. It was unsettling hating a fictional person that much.

The wife and I watched "The Gorge" based on a recommendation from someone and OK reviews in general. We both thought it was one of the dumbest movies we have ever seen. Absurd and contrived from start to finish. Zero stars."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

This season of Mythic Quest is fun. Not highbrow or anything, but fine entertainment. But this scene with Charley Day was magnificent. He's a talent agent or lawyer or something for a spoiled, entitled YouTube streamer character. The kid is seeking emancipation from his mom and just finished a big event that made him a ton of money and his mom agreed. So on a Saturday morning he went over to Charley Day's house and had this exchange.

Literally 99% of my Charlie Day experience is Always Sunny so the first 30 seconds of that was a bit of a cognitive shift, but that was really good.Originally posted by YOhio View PostThis season of Mythic Quest is fun. Those who enjoy Slow Horses may find this very brief but probing Colbert interview of Gary Oldman entertaining.

I love how Oldman loses it by the time the last clip is shown.

Really impressed with the first two episodes of Pluribus. At first I was side-eyeing the wildly implausible infectivity of the genetic code (absolutely no prodromal phase? Cmon!). But is a unique take on extraterrestrial invasion. And Rhea Seeborn is superb. Of course, it has all the Gilligan cinematography habits, so it's fun to watch."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Wow. I'm surprised how much I liked the first two episodes of Pluribus and eagerly await the third arriving Friday. I started two Apple series this week, Down Cemetery Road, featuring Emma Thompson who is always great, and Pluribus with Rhea Seahorn (Kim on Better Call Saul), thinking i'd probably love the former and wouldn't last with the latter. Not so. After two episode of both, I might not return to Emma, but Pluribus, at least for now, is a definite must see. For those who are in thus far, it would be fun to discuss whether you'd want to live the life Diabate is currently enjoying. I know I'm not supposed to but part of me says, "Yes, please."Originally posted by Northwestcoug View PostReally impressed with the first two episodes of Pluribus.
