Man, how did you not laugh at the part where he goes outside and "there's not much traffic" and he thinks "I'm going to have sex with a monkey! Oh, there's a guy...." That had me rolling.Originally posted by Jacob View PostAh yes. That bestiality bit. I don't find bestiality jokes funny either, but probably a lot closer to funny than to genius.

Last episode of Louie, in which he travels on an airplane, shares a seat with an obese dude, and nearly dies in a crash, was totally absurd. I liked it, but it seemed to take a turn from the other episodes toward the surreal. I keep seeing a mixup of other comics' work in CK's show, and this episode reminded me of early Woody Allen's surreal situational comedy, and the characters that CK encounters in the South, as well as some of the situations, seemed to draw heavily on the quirky aesthetics and sensibilities of the Cohen brothers. It was a fine episode that broadened the creative directions the show might follow, though it had a different feel from the other episodes (I suppose the moment when the bad date fled, got into a helicopter and flew away was equally surreal to anything that happened in this episode). The cop's 'will you kiss me on the lips' scene was something original that I had never seen before. It is that kind of originality that make CK so good. The 'sitting on an airplane next to a fat person' stuff wasn't so original, but I liked the way they deplaned, having just survived a harrowing experience, as good friends. CK took a lame fat-joke and added a nice little twist.

I felt the same way about the episode. The actual jokes were things I'd seen before (comically oversized seatmate, comically undersized drink) but it's the weird little moments that make everything work. The way Louie kind of laughed at the guy freaking out at the reservation desk and then just awkwardly trying to avoid his angry gaze. The little friendly concluding moment that you mentioned. None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.
I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

I haven't posted here in a bit, but the Season wrapped up with a fantastic double-episode which included the amazing return of Ricky Gervais. This is the freshest comedy on television right now. I was really happy to see that it has been picked up for a second season. Until then, everyone should catch up on Hulu... so twisted, so gross, so original.

I've really enjoyed Louie, although I've got to say many of the episodes are hit and miss. Many of them have no theme or structure that I can see. Bizarre. But I like the show. The episode where his mother announces she's a lesbian is classic. The part where Louie's brother is pleading with his mother to say she loves him is heartbreaking.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostI haven't posted here in a bit, but the Season wrapped up with a fantastic double-episode which included the amazing return of Ricky Gervais. I loved "Who doesn't love their mother?" followed by Louie raising his hand.Originally posted by falafel View PostI've really enjoyed Louie, although I've got to say many of the episodes are hit and miss. I can't wait to watch the final two episodes. Our DVR crashed and we lost everything we had recorded but I just TiVo'd a repeat late last night.Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

Finally watched those two final episodes. Great stuff. When Louie was doing his stand-up and describing taking his daughters into the men's bathroom at the airport, I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe.Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

LOL! Pennies and soup cans... Bracing the leg to get more leverage... To his credit, CK can be just as profane as he can be profound.Originally posted by Green Lantern View PostFinally watched those two final episodes. Great stuff. I also loved the pickup line out at the park,

Season 3 is off to a strong start. I loved the scenes with his daughters. I recall that the two-part duck story from season2 was based on one of his daughter's stories, so it is interesting to see how CK continues drawing upon fatherhood for new material. The two girls playing his daughters in the series have great chemistry with him.
Also, the season opener was very cool, with a great French New Wave look and feel. The whole motorcycle sequence had me grinning.

I recently finished the first two seasons on Netflix. I really like the series. My favorite LOL moments:
- In the premiere episode where his date is in the bathroom and some guy starts pounding on the door and she is convinced it is him. Also where the bus driver quits in the middle of the field trip.
- The scene where he rushes his pregnant sister to the ER only to learn it was a false alarm. Kind of dumb in hindsight but the intensity of it was a perfect lead-up to the gag so I laughed to tears.
- Where his mother announces she is a lesbian and she has a GF so hot that both of the sons are jealous.
- The episode near the end of season two where his daughter gives him a surprise in his luggage when he goes to Afghanistan. The two girls that play his daughters are adorable.
Someone above mentioned that the show is hit or miss. I completely agree and I think it is because he takes huge risks. Sometimes he whiffs but other times it really works, especially when he delves into more poignant and serious topics. The episode where his old friend comes to tell him that he is about to commit suicide was my favorite of the entire series. Great writing."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Louie is back after a two-year hiatus. Anybody else watching?
The first episode had me cringing the entire 30 minutes, but the rest have been fantastic. Episode with the fat chick was brilliant. Great series."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
