I've gotta admit, when I saw the trailer, I thought "why would Emma Stone do a terrible movie like this?" Your positive comments have me intrigued. Not enough to go see it in theater, but maybe on DVD and I wasn't planning to.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Yeah, it's not perfect (first-time writer-director who was a friend of the author) but an excellent candidate for a DVD/Netflix rental.

      • We got out to see Harry Potter 7.2 a couple of weeks go. Thoroughly enjoyed it. We watched 7.1 on DVD a week before to refresh our minds, and I decided to read the entire book 1 week before we went to see the movie. Almost finished it too. The book is still much better (they changed the ending in the movie), but the movie was still quite enjoyable.

Hoping to get out to see Cowboys VS Aliens in the next week or two.

That first real scene between Gosling and Stone (at his house) was hysterical. She always just nails the timing on her comedy.

          • There's an awesome little cineplex around the corner from my place here in AZ that plays indie films and limited releases. I saw a cool little flick called "Terri" that was pretty awesome. The one big name they had was John c. Reilly (oh and Creed from the office, who was GREAT) and it was pretty raw and touching. This is Sundance runoff, and a really nice time at the matinee... highly suggested.

            • Twelve O'Clock High with Gregory Peck.

It had been a while so I pulled this off the shelf a couple of nights ago and was reminded of what an excellent film it is. It is probably the best movie about the bombing campaign of Germany during WWII and Peck gives a brilliant performance.

                • I just watched Poltergeist.. I'm convinced it's the Sixth Sense of the 80's written/produced by Steven Speilberg. Came out a week before E.T., and an R that was before there was such thing as PG-13. Oh I'm positive the Toy is R, too...

What does that mean? A popular movie involving ghosts? I don't recall an big twists in Poltergeist.

I mean a character driven ghost story/quasi-horror flick with lots of comic relief, fairly good dialogue (VERY reminiscent of E.T./Super 8/Sixth Sense), and family friendly content (although Poltergeist pushes it w the bathroom hallucination) and a plot. Not a slasher movie.

                        • The Searchers starring John Wayne and directed by John Ford.

A little girl is captured by Commanches and John Wayne embarks on a relentless five year search. Excellent movie.

Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.
