Around 1990, my sister and her family came to visit from Arizona for the holidays. Her oldest was around 5 years old. We were going to turn on a Disney movie for her. We selected Bambi and, while taking the VHS cassette to the VCR, asked her if it was OK. She said, "No - Bambi is scary!".

When we asked her what she would prefer, she said, "Batman!"

The asshole discussion reminds me of a defamation lawsuit brought decades ago by a person who took offense at being described as an asshole. I have a copy of the defendant's answer somewhere. I wish I could find it but it included something like the following: "'Asshole' has at least two commonly accepted definitions: (i) the void surrounded by the anal sphincter muscle, or (ii) a person whose uncivil or impolite behavior causes others to hold the person in contempt or disdain. By referring to Plaintiff as an asshole, Defendant did not mean to imply, nor would any reasonable person infer, that Plaintiff is a void surrounded by the anal sphincter muscle. Defendant did, and any reasonable person would, find Plaintiff's behavior to be contemptible and disdainful. Plaintiff is, in fact, an asshole." I understand the case was dismissed.

A bit of a non-sequitur, but reminds me of my favorite attorney letter ever, after a (more typical) attorney wrote a letter to the Cleveland Stadium/Cleveland Browns complaining about paper airplanes at the stadium that A) could risk eye injury, and B) said attorney would hold them responsible for. I cannot read this letter without smiling.
