I guess it was kind of fun getting knocked down by a movie. I was 100% expecting a horror movie and little cues were present during the first act, but then it became apparent that wasn't going to pan out. Like you said- not enjoyable by any means in the traditional sense, but frustrating if you are an impatient viewer.Originally posted by jay santos View PostMother. Either I'm not smart enough to pick up on the symbolism or they did a very poor job marketing the movie. I wish I would have watched the youtube video KL linked above before watching. I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more. This is an example of a movie you need to understand a little about it before going in. Why not start the film with an intro like in Star Wars font: this movie is an extended metaphor with Javier Bardem representing Father God and Jennifer Lawrence representing Mother Earth. It takes away from the art a little, I guess. But would turn a frustrating experience into an enjoyable experience for millions of watchers."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

It's definitely not the worst film ever, or even a bad film. What it is is so different than what you're accustomed to getting for your $7 that you could have a broad range of reactions, and then a separate reaction to the material, content, or message. But the film is objectively well done.Originally posted by Topper View PostYou actually gave a summary that suggests this movie could be enjoyed. I read several reviews that declares this movie to be the worst of all possible films."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle. A silly movie, but ultimately pretty funny and enjoyable if you don't mind some of the course language and over-the-top Kill Bill style violence. Also, Channing Tatum is finding his niche as a comic actor."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

Mysteries of Lisbon - 4-hour story about an orphan's mysterious past, as well as that of various characters around him. Thought it was going to be good at first but it just ran on and on and then ended without building to anything interesting. I liked the actor who plays a benevolent priest watching over the orphan, but most of it was pretty forgettable. Not worth 4 hours.
Summer of 92 - Maybe the most perfectly middle of the road movie I've ever seen. About Denmark's backing into the European championship in 92 before going on to magically win the whole thing. Mostly focuses on the much-maligned coach. Nothing bad in it but at the same time it's utterly devoid of any memorable character or scene. Maybe worth it if you're big into European soccer or Danish culture (apparently it was a huge hit in Denmark a couple years ago), but otherwise not worth seeking out.

It had good reviews . . .Originally posted by Katy Lied View Post4 hours with no payoff? Ouch. Ouch.
I believe it was meant to screen in two parts -- watched it over a few nights. I had hoped for something like The Best of Youth, which is 6 hours long and completely engrossing -- that one is so good I actually wish it were a little longer.

If y'all loved the original Blade Runner back in 1982 then you may like the 2049 version as well. Same slow-moving film with the dark and twisted futuristic world like the original that answers a few questions but creates a few more. I predict it will be a cult classic as well. I wonder if they will do a voice over version of 2049 and get Harrison Ford to get stoned again."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.

mrs smr convinced me to see wonder woman. on a scale from 1 -10, I've decided superhero movies have a ceiling of about a 3.5. I'd give ww a solid 2.5. incredibly dumb (like all superhero movies) and probably not worth the $2 or whatever i paid at the dollar theater, but it entertained me sufficiently and i enjoy hanging with the mrs, so I'd call it a success.I'm like LeBron James.

You are the outlier opinion that just gets thrown out. This movie pretty much garnered rave reviews from everyone I talked to and you give it a 2.5.
