I saw the Dark Tower. I liked it. Of course, I never read the books like the people who allege to hate this movie worse than anything. I thought they did a great job with it, the tone was consistent, and the acting and action was great. Of course the resolution seemed a bit facile, but what do I know about this universe?

I'm a big fan of the book series and loved the movie. Those that didn't were expecting an adaptation to the books, not the continuation of the story that they had already said they were doing.

I'm not sure that's the movie, but I saw some critic saying that the advertising for the movie completely misrepresents what to expect. Said it wasn't really a bad movie, but the advertising and trailer(s) should have been more on point.

That's why I guessed that the horde of book readers/critics were mad at how the movie went. I didn't know it was supposed to be independent from the books and to me it didn't matter since I hadn't read them anyway. I think it's just a feeling that the books rocked their soul and the movie didn't? I liked it just fine-- this is not a single-digit RT flick.

Baby Driver - First 20 minutes were awesome. I was ready for the movie to be an alltime awesome movie, but then it sucked. The early car chase scenes were maybe the best I've seen. The Baby character was great. The fact he made music from recordings was fun, unusual, and great. But man, did they ruin a good idea or what? It dragged on for like an hour before he went to prison and served his time...and how lame. Baby was badass early on and then he was just nothing

Casino Royale - In my top 3 of Bond films. I always enjoy this one. It's just a bit long but very good and entertaining. I do like Skyfall better but just by a smidge (I'm a sucker for nostalgia). My only problem with CR (other than the length) is that now I feel I have to watch QoS, which isn't nearly as good and Spectre, which is even not as good as QoS.

Matchstick Men - I love this movie and have seen it a half dozen times. I really don't get tired of it. I even am not bugged by Nicki Cage, although he does kind of suck in it but his character is awesome.

My wife and son liked it but I agree with you. Boring. Too long. I was looking at my watch waiting for it to be finished.

I thought the first movie in the reboot was good. Second one ok. This one was a yawner.

Took Jr and a group of his friends to Dunkirk on Friday night for his bday. It was quite the party movie, really put them in a festive mood, good pick Jr!

I thought it was incredible. I think it was Duderino that in the earlier discussion summed it up by saying something like war is awful. Terrifying, touching and Inspiring.

Took daughter number 2 for a second viewing of Dunkirk. It stands up beautifully. Loved it again, and understood probably half of the dialogue I missed the first time. Maybe I'll get all of it if I watch it a third time.

Just saw Logan Lucky. I enjoyed it, my wife thought it was boring. Magic Mike and Kylo Ren were both excellent. I thought Daniel Craig was a strange casting move at first, but he grew on me towards the end of the movie. To me it felt like a Coen brothers movie than a Soderbergh one.

There aren't a lot (any?) of big screen necessary moments. I would recommend catching it when it goes to On Demand or Netflix.

We went to Logan Lucky last night but the entire showing was sold out. We intended on trying for a matinee this morning, but Vandelay has talked me out of it.



At least tell me how Riley Keough was- she's my current favorite actress. I wonder if Riley and Katie got together during filming and threw shade onto Scientology together.

And how was Sebastian Stan, my favorite Romanian actor? I bet his family name used to be Stanescu.

And how were these nextgen scions of famous acting families do? Did they do their parents proud? Katherine Waterston, Jack Quaid, and Brian Gleeson III. (Riley Keough is also from an acting/singing family, but she's been in the business on her own long enough I dont think of her as a novice.)

Wind River. It was excellent. About a murder on an Indian Reservation in Wyoming. Elizabeth Olson and Jeremy Renner were awesome. More drama, than thriller, but still had plenty of suspense. The film made a significant emotional impact on me afterward. I highly recommend it.
