The "last movie I saw" thread

Dr. Strange wasn't that bad, not as good as the first. My daughter gave me a crash course in Wandavision before I went, which is also kind of clever. I haven't seen the latest Spiderman so she gave me the least spoiler overview of that so I would understand that there's a multiverse now.

Love the mysticism of Dr. Strange, but it still is one of the weaker Marvel movies. B minus.

Watch the Disney+ series 'Loki' for a better explanation of that. Spiderman's plot was premised on the multiverse principle established in Loki.

I saw it because my 12 year old is infatuated with Marvel. It was probably the worst marvel movie I’ve seen. It’s clearly the worst movie I’ve seen this year. I had a 32 oz Coke Zero and still almost fell asleep.

The movie would be complete nonsense if you had not seen Wandavision, the latest Spiderman, and Loki. But more concerning, I think this is more of a wake up call to go get that prostate checked out.

I liked the movie more than PAC did but I don't know that I liked it as much as NWC did (I'm not sure anyone could).

I didn't know what to expect, but I guess I should have expected the Kung Fu.

I was impressed with the writing. The heart of the movie deals with very heavy topics and themes - meaning of life, value of relationships, etc. - but manages to do so in a ridiculously playful way.

As to the lol scenes with sex toys, I'm confident my wife would find a way not to laugh at them.

For some reason, I left the theater craving a bagel with cream cheese.

I'm riding a high right now after "Everything Everywhere All at Once". I have not been so enthralled with a movie like that for a long time. I didn't read anything about it before going in, and that is the way to do it. The movie is a roller coaster with pacing; the frenetic scenes are wonderful and the slower ones are a welcome break. It gets away with a lot of excesses and craziness because it has at it's heart a very touching story about life and family. It's very Pixar-esque in that regard. It clocks in a little over 2 hours, and I didn't want it to end. I will be throwing my money at the movie theater and watching it again. I cannot recommend it highly enough. This is about as solid of an 'A' movie as it gets.

A note about content: it's a soft 'R' with a few f-bombs. No nudity or sex scenes. There are a couple of laugh-out loud scenes with sex toys that would not fly in a PG-13 movie. But trust me when I tell you this: you would have to the most prudish person ever not to laugh at them.

Just saw Everything Everywhere All at Once and it is a pretty amazing and very weird piece of work. I'm not at all sure I really enjoyed it (certainly not as much as NWC) and I'm still mulling over the theme and conclusion, but I have immense respect for the writers and directors (and the editors--a massive amount of work here) for doing something so imaginative and non-formulaic. I went alone--my expectation that Mrs. PAC wouldn't have enjoyed it was justified. But this is a movie I'd love to discuss with others and wouldn't mind watching again. But it's quickly leaving theaters so if you're trying to decide whether to go, better do so now before the new and far less imaginative Dr. Strange movie bumps EEAAO out of the cineplex this weekend,

P.S. The actors were all great and a tip of the cap to Jamie Leigh Curtis for packing on the pounds for her role as Deirdre Beaubeirdre, an IRS agent whose name apparently was derived from the 60's tune, "The Name Game."

Loved the rocks scene, especially when the mom turned around with googly eyes. To me that was emblematic of the movie as a whole, not being afraid of mining for a laugh in any scene, even the more poignant ones.

I get kind of being unsure about the movie. It's just a lot and it's all thrown at your face. The second time I watched it I noticed that the plot line was more 'deliberate' than what I had thought previously. The holes that I thought were there were explained adequately. And a couple of scenes even became more poignant, especially the one near the end where Evelyn is a movie star and talking about their respective lives with Waymond. Some really choice dialogue there.

Agree that Jamie Lee Curtis is fantastic in it. She's kind of the glue that holds everything together.
