I saw the new Black Panther movie. I didn’t want to see it but my daughter loves Marvel and MJ wasn’t going to go. It might be not just the worst Marvel movie ever but maybe even the worst movie I’ve seen in a theater. It was disjointed and choppy. The overall story sucked as did the action scenes. It was also almost three hours long. You could’ve cut it in half and still it would’ve been too long for the story.

    That is allowable.

As is the Die Hard/Hans Gruber advent calendar:

That's what my daughter said when I started "Miracle on 34th Street" last night (available on Disney+). I explained that the movie starts with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, so it includes both holidays. She had no idea what the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was. I'm not sure if that should make me feel proud or embarrassed.

    Haha.

The dialogue has a number of good lines and the production numbers are very impressive, although if you're indifferent to--or simply dislike--musicals, stay away. But since it's free on AppleTV, you can watch for a few minutes and figure out pretty quickly whether it's worth two hours of your time. It was for us, with a lot of laughs.
We really enjoyed this also, though the free aspect of it probably helped. Ryan Reynolds dreaminess and comic chops certainly didn't hurt, and Will Ferrell was also solid. Agree with the musical numbers, and I'm not a huge musical fan.

My daughter said Elf is a movie you can watch any time during the year, but Spirited will be pretty good for repeated Christmas viewing. I agree with that hot take.

The cinematography was beautiful, and Mrs. NWC and I smiled in delight any time we saw a familiar landscape. Acting and dialogue were also above average. The plot, well, it's a head scratcher. Certainly more of a character-driven movie. I like it more than I don't, but YMMV.
I saw The Banshees of Inisherin about a week ago and still not sure about it. I suppose because it's not the most uplifting of movies but cinematography, acting, writing all were very good (as you stated). Keep thinking there is a deep metaphor I'm missing. In the hopes of understanding the film better, I rewatched In Bruges by the same director with the same lead actors. That didn't really help but I enjoyed the dark humor in In Bruges much more. In Bruges is the more violent film (by far) but I was affected more by the violence in Banchees.

Thanks for the qualified rec. I like the trailer even though the storyline seems a bit too contrived. Looking forward to revisiting the Aran Islands.

I saw "See How They Run" a few weeks back. Really liked it. An Agatha Christie-style murder mystery that makes fun of Agatha Christie murder mysteries and is low-key hilarious in the process. Adrien Brodie is in it, and he plays his part well. The rest of the cast are English actors that I don't really recognize, but it's worth the watch, IMO.
