By the time they get to the jury they are stung from being out and start consoling themselves by thinking that they only lost because they weren't willing to be as morally defective as someone else. That is pure self deception on their parts and very, very hypocritical.

Rupert sort of amused me this season. He is child like is some ways. He really liked the idea that he was a hero and really internalized the idea that he was. And that he was a really good guy. Rupert who in Panama when they came ashore stole the other tribes shoes and sold them to get himself more stuff. The reason we all liked him so well the first two seasons was that he was a great competitor, not because he was a moral paragon.
I actually dislike Rupert a lot this season. His Hero mantra was silly and lame.. His crybaby hatred talk to Russell at the end almost mirror that idiot girl from the first season... What a hypocrite imo..

I actually am not sure Russell would have even made it to the top 3 this year had America voted.
It would be interesting to see how that would have played out. Russell won America's favorite, but I don't think that necessarily means he would have gotten the vote to win. For example, Russell was also my favorite, but if I had a vote on the winner, it would have been Parv. I thought she played the best game overall.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

      • I knew there was NO WAY Russell could of gotten the last three votes, but man that would of been HUGE if he in fact got the last 3 votes to make it a 3-way tie.. I think that would of made it the best thing ever for the show.. But it didn't happen..

One other thing I think he changed the game was the hidden immunity idols.. I bet they no longer put multiple ones out there at a time.. I bet the only put one in play and made them even harder to find. His nose for finding them changed their tactics when hiding them..

The one thing that caused Sandra to win was the "I told ya'll to get rid of Russell and you didn't listen to me".. They sat there and agreed and sealed her win with that statement alone...

This was definitely Sandra's coup de grace. You could literally see the hope drain out of Parv and Russel's facial expression as Sandra made that statement,"I TRIED to warn you, but I wasn't successful... had I been successful, Russel wouldn't be here right now..." It was a masterful stroke. Parv and Russel looked like they were on the verge of tears.

          • I think Sandra played a better game that she is given credit for.

Playing Russell against Coach was a stroke of genius. She or one of her allies is about to be dumped, so she plants the idea in Russell's head that Coach wants him gone, and suddenly Russell's sights shift to someone else.

With as paraniod as Russell is coupled with him being a complete control freak and believing he needs to be in everyone's head - he is WAY to easy to manipulate.

Then finding the hidden idol and not telling a soul. How often does that happen? A great play - but without all of the edited in gossip and wondering that goes on when more than one person is in on it.

And one of my favorite moments from tribal council. Sandra is telling Jeff that Russell came to her and asked if she was with him or against him. Jeff says something like "So of course you said you are with him." and she responds with "No, I told him I was against him, Jeff." Watching the look of shock on Jeff's face as his jaw nearly hit the floor was priceless.

Russell is a great player - during the game. But Sandra openly defied him and lived to not only tell about it but get to the end. He couldn't get rid of her.

How can you say she didn't play at least as well as him when she made it to the end without the alliance that he had?

I'm also curious as to what edits were made to make the outcome not seem clear. They obviously didn't want everyone to know she was getting the votes, which caused them to edit the final tribal council and. Were there other moves she made that helped get her to the end that they didn't show because they didn't want it to be obvious that she would win it?

Just to be clear - I'm not saying she is the best player ever. I just don't think its fair to underestimate what she did do.

I'm completly OK with the jury picking a winner. People make enemies in a game like this. How do you make sure you have more friends that enemies? I think they have to cast the show right to make sure there are still relationship issues on not everyone is happy all of the time. But for me that is one of the great aspects of the show. The intrigue. I don't want it to be Jerry Springer where people are completly outrageous in order to get viewer votes because what the other players think doesn't matter.

            • Agree with just about everything you said, Eddie.

I still think Parv played the best overall game, but Sandra, like you said, did much more than she was given credit for. Also, she sold her position perfectly to the jury.

Everytime I watch the end of that show I wonder what those people do for the last 24 hours before going to make their case to the jury. It is so very RARE for anyone to put together any kind of coherent thought as to why they should get people's vote. It shows them walking solitary on the beach, staring off into the ocean, etc. Are NONE of them thinking about what they're going to say?

Russell's only shot was at making the Richard Hatch arguement. "I didn't come here to make friends. I came here to win. These are the things I did to win. This is the evidence that I wasn't trying to make friends." Instead, he comes in with the "I deserve to win because I'm the best ever." Sorry - that just puts people off.

I think Parv also deserved to win. She made a pact with the Devil and kept him in her pocket through the whole game. She made some epic moves - like passing out two hidden idols to give her side the numbers. And I like that she didn't let Russell bowl her over into voting for Danielle, or even buy his story that Danielle was out to get her. I would've been interested in seeing how she would've made out if Russell had made her a target like he did Sandra.

                • According to reports, former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson will be on the upcoming season of Survivor in Nicauragua.
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

                  • Kicked off last night. Did anyone watch?

I think I'll find myself pulling for Jimmy Johnson, though I don't think he'll make it very far. He's already playing off his celebrity talking about how no jury will award him a million bucks, so he's just out for the adventure.

The format to start out is old vs. young. One of the new twists is that there is a medallion of power that rotates between the two tribes. It gives the tribe that uses it some kind of advantage in a challenge and then it is moved to the other tribe and so on. It'll be interesting to see if this helps keep the tribes even through the merge.

One thing Jimmy said that I think he is absolutely right on is that he might not be the best in challenges, but he does know how to motivate people, and when you're talking old vs. young, that could be big.

As for who got voted off:

Spoiler for who got voted off:
Wendy, the crazy goat hearder who literally brought nothing and then extended tribal council by stating a bunch of poor reasons as to why she should stay.

Me personally? No. I tend to enjoy watching things unfold.
