When he's alone at the Denny's arranging the bacon and has Skyler's maiden name, it's because they're dead and can't carry out the tradition. He's quit the chemo because he has nothing to live for, but comes back to have his Scarface moment with that badass gun in his trunk. Nobody knows he actually made it into hiding which is why the neighbor has that reaction. He locates these people and goes down trying to take them out. The end.

(I'm amazed at the memory of some of you, or you follow a great BB theories site.) That's good stuff there, MG. How do we know he has Skyler's maiden name? and how do we even know what her maiden name is?

I don't see this as a show that leads to a "blaze of glory" ending. I'm predicting something far quieter (but no less powerful and memorable) than a Scarface demise.

That may not be the very, very end, but I just feel like it has to be somewhere in there. Gilligan has made so many references to Scarface that it just seems like there will be an homage there at some point. Maybe he's actually used the gun and killed some peeps prior to making it back to ABQ and then succumbs to the cancer going out quietly? I don't know.

I just watched the first couple minutes of the season 5 premiere and he eyes somehow who walks into the Denny's. Seems like he might be looking for somebody.

The Skyler's maiden name thing was from that link old_gregg posted speculating that Walt might kill her. Even though I said above that I don't see him killing his family, I was referring more the kids and could actually see the Skyler thing. Who knows. This thing seems so wide open to me.

Maybe it's the very fact that he's made so many Scarface references that has me hoping he goes to lengths to avoid any kind of direct homage. The nice thing is, we may not know the details, but we all know how the story is going to end: Walt is going down. That knowledge makes watching this show the equivalent of watching one of the great Shakespearean tragedies.

Sky will suspect Walt and will turn to the Feds for protection from Walt.

The Czechs will come after Walt with the help of Jesse to kill Walt, he fakes his death.

Walt returns to ABQ to kill Jesse. Poisons Brock with ricin to announce his return to Jesse. Also kills Saul who helpsed Sky after feeling the heat from Hank.

Walt kills Jesse.

Walt lives while everything in his life he has destroyed.

I do like the idea that Walt uses the ricin on himself. They've been teasing that ricin for so long.

I know it's too much to hope that every single misdeed of Walt's somehow comes to light by the finale, but I really do hope that it somehow comes out that he was present when Jane died and could have prevented it.

It would make for an interesting and thought provoking ending.

Walt gets cancer and is dying. He wants to take care of his family after he's dead, so he gets into the drug trade. In the end the vehicle he uses to provide for his family ends up destroying them (they all die) while Walt overcomes cancer and lives. It's almost poetic.

I couldn't agree more. That was, IMO, when he officially broke bad.
