that wasn't the point I was attempting to make. Skyler was a terrible person also. She is not one I cheered for, and this was before she became a party to the business. I just never liked her. She was still a well acted and compelling charchater that was critical to the story line.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

There have been dissertations written on the Skyler character and how much of the hate was male driven. But she was very easy to hate, and it always puzzled me when Gilligan would say he couldn't figure out why fans hated her.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostI wondered if the hate for Skyler was just a male thing but the other night my wife looks over and goes "That Skyler is a real bitch".So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Gilligan said all kinds of nonsense to drive conversation. I think Skyler, like most of the regulars, had her very interesting segments, and her very 2D ones. I don't think Gilligan is a fantastic developer of characters, but he's a great storyteller. That's where the show derives its quality.
IMO, Hank is the most interesting main character. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

While Skyler the actress was annoying, her character was fine. IMHO, being mildly annoying and having to play opposite a superb actor in Brian Cranston were the issues. Aaron Paul's metamorphosis over the first two seasons didn't help either. The reason we hate Skyler is how she treated Walt in the first season. Before he broke bad and started treating her like a thing (remember when he raped her up against the fridge?), he was just her husband with cancer, and she treated him in a smothering bitchy way. When he turns and she is justified in being that way, we've already decided that we hated her because she was that way before she had a right to be.
Anna Gunn acted that role perfectly and I think any criticism of Anna Gunn is unwarranted. Skyler though should be fair game. I think Gilligan was being coy when he expressed disbelief over why people hated Skyler."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

Here's an idea, Hank and Saul starring in a buddy comedy. Like Perfect Strangers except with meth.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostHank was awesome.
