Fucking Camas.Originally posted by swampfrog View PostCamas, WA 2016 High School 4A Football champions #represent
Do you work for Fisher? I met Ken Fisher a few days before the Skyline/Camas playoff game and asked him if he was going to be attending. He declined my invitation to tailgate in the SHS parking lot... said he only attends home games. Might have been an excuse.

Yeah, so I pulled the trigger on an iphone 7 plus with max memory. And I will probably buy the gimbal today. I want to start videoing in 4K, and some of the samples on youtube are amazing. I can shoot cinematic with these two pieces of equipment and about $10 worth of software. (Post production extra)Originally posted by swampfrog View PostPretty sure that won't support my 7DII...
My calling as ward photographer will be immensely helped if I switch from a DSLR to an iphone. I can do video, plus if someone wants a photo I can just email it to them from my phone. Last Saturday, we had the ward christmas breakfast and we had Santa there (he does it professionally and he was sooooo good at it.) and he really got the kids excited about Christmas, but he always ended his little visits with something about loving your parents, or helping your brothers and sisters, etc. Anyway, I had several parents forget their cameras so asked me to send them the photo of their kid. Normally that means I have to go home and batch process all the photos, and try to remember which parents wanted which pix, and then I have to hunt them down at church to get their email or give them a thumb drive (and I've "lost" 5 thumb drives lately). I can't dump all of the kid's pictures on the ward facebook page because some parents are PARANOID about pictures of their family appearing on social media. So I have to treat every photo request separately.
I asked my husband if I could deduct the cost of the iphone as a church contribution and his mocking laughter followed me out of the room.

Glad you haven't forgotten to ask your husband for permission regarding financial matters. #thelordswayOriginally posted by Katy Lied View PostI asked my husband if I could deduct the cost of the iphone as a church contribution and his mocking laughter followed me out of the room. You're actually pretty funny when you aren't being a complete a-hole....so basically like 5% of the time. --Art Vandelay

I am not an accountant but you may be able to deduct part of the cost... As scoutmaster I wrote off all kinds of expenses that I wasn't reimbursed for.

Sounds interesting. I've never looked into shooting the bridge, makes me wonder what areas around it are accessible. What can you get to that the general public cannot that might provide an interesting subject/scene?

I've taken some cool shots (for a hack like me) from the WA side around Hood River. On a clear day you can get the windersurfers and Mt. Hood. There is also a cool looking train bridge there.Originally posted by swampfrog View PostSounds interesting. I can't afford to cross the bridge since they doubled the price of the toll

My Christmas list includes a the new wireless SD card for the 7DII for this reason, immediately making the image available on a mobile device as needed. Though I really, really dislike releasing any kind of image that I haven't looked at on the computer.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostYeah, so I pulled the trigger on an iphone 7 plus with max memory. The cameras on these phones have made huge strides in the last few years, but still can't overcome the need for the sensor to be much smaller than even a crop DSLR, let alone a full frame DSLR. Fine (even great) for small web publishing and event snaps.
Just upload the whole batch to an album on google photos and send out the link. I do this all the time. I got the "Picasa" upload plug-in for Lightroom, so I can create an album in LightRoom, figure out the basic edits needed for the lighting, mass apply the edits to all of the shots, tweak a few as needed, and then publish to Google Photos. You can't navigate to the album without the link, so only those you send it to can see the pictures. If they are so paranoid that they don't want their picture accessible by others also at the same event then they are out of luck.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostI can't dump all of the kid's pictures on the ward facebook page because some parents are PARANOID about pictures of their family appearing on social media. If money can be spent to make downtown Salt Lake City more appealing, I don't see the problem? Members should have a higher quality experience when attending church activities, right?Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostI asked my husband if I could deduct the cost of the iphone as a church contribution and his mocking laughter followed me out of the room.

Snapped a few shots of the Cathedral of Saint Paul tonight. Truly one of the more beautiful edifices I've ever observed in person.
