I have no idea, I've never seen her computer ...but I'm honored. tooblue and others have also mentioned a few that I'm proud of. KL has just often highlighted a single photo from a series which has been my favorite of the series also. I was really happy with the purple/red bush composition. I can't exit the car at the refuge, so when I saw the bush I knew exactly what I wanted, drove to the spot that where the tree with the fall leaves was centered between the barren trees in the distance. It just struck me as balanced, though I don't often understand why. I'm still tempted to take a little more of the top and bottom for even more of a panorama feel.

Please stop doing this. Scenes like that deserve something better.

I shot many different options besides the 70mm version presented here. The processing choices are also multitude. This is much darker than the original scene.

It's the same lens (24-105mm). I always like shooting depth of field shots and have been experimenting, but I think it's the new RAW update ... too much Clarity and Dehazing ... applying a little appears to be too much, especially in my last shot, though the 'painter' in me kinda likes it.

Absolutely, bolder delineated contrast in the background can create a different feel. Depending on the subject it can be additive or subtractive.
