Two girls I grew up with in California who lived at Glenwood Apartments (now the Lodge at Glenwood or something absurd). There was a vacant room next to their apartment. They discovered some peep holes into the private areas of their apartment from the one next door and that they had been spied on and videotaped. It shook one up so bad she dropped out of the Y and moved home.

Most of my Bishops at BYU had cell phone lists that the men would sign up for so the girls had someone to call if they ever needed an escort home from campus after dark and such. But this does little comfort in situations like these.

Right after we moved away from Provo, we see on the news, some creepy guy was sneaking into girls apartments in our complex that only had 6 units. They showed the for rent sign on our old apartment in the clips. They caught the guy and he said someone was forcing them to do it.

It was just south of the botany pond.

We were glad to be out of there.

Stuff like this scares me to death. Here is email my SIL sent, edited to not draw anymore attention to these poor girls:

Last night at 3:00 am K's roommate ran into her room, switched on the light, and yelled, "K! Get up! Someone's in our house!" Her roommate, C, had woken up to a man caressing her leg. She threw the covers off and onto the man and yelled at him as she backed out of the room. He hid his face, but kept coming towards her and that is when she ran into K's room. He followed C into the hall and hid in the hall closet, which K uses for her clothes. K and C closed K's bedroom door and while their door was closed they think he ran back downstairs and out of the house. The girls thought he was still in the closet, though, so C swung on the doorframe and slammed the closet door shut and took off for the stairs. K then followed and ran like crazy down the stairs. When she was woken up K had the presence of mind to grab her glasses as well as her cell phone. Once outside by the front door K's first reaction was to call a friend in the other part of the house--it is a twin home with five girls on K's side and four on the other. K then called the police. While the police were talking to C to try to get directions to the house--it was confusing for some reason--K and the girl from the other side (M) decided to go downstairs to wake up K's other two roommates who have bedrooms in the basement. K was terrified when she saw their back door wide open. She wasn't sure what they would find in the basement. The two girls downstairs were sleeping but were soon awake.

When the police arrived they asked several times if everyone was out of the house because they had a dog--a very vicious dog according to K. They entered their side of the house with the dog in front and guns pulled. K said there were about 10 officers in all. The dog was able to track the guy's scent through the backyard and partway up the street, then it disappeared.
This happened to my sister in law at the Y last year. Apparently the guy was rummaging through young coeds underwear drawers.

During my mission, two sisters in my zone came home one evening and their power was out, but saw that the other apartments still had power. Before closing the front door, they immediately ran straight to their car and drove to the nearest member's home, who escorted them back to the apartment with flashlights, and found that the main breaker had been switched off. Meanwhile, the intruder had covered the windows so the apartment had been pitch black, and some things were moved around in the front room to create a hiding place, apparently to attack them as soon as the door was closed.

After that, they were so creeped out that I bought them each a keychain pepper spray (there was a sporting goods store not far from my apartment). Within days, five other sister companionships asked for pepper spray too.

I'm all for having spray and guns in the home, but when you're asleep at 3 am and suddenly you're awoken by a guy rubbing your thigh, what good is it going to do unless it's loaded and under your pillow?

Dogs rule. But I'd rather shoot the intruder with a gun rather than risk getting sued because my dog bit the bad guy.

Do you still have the same dogs I met when you stopped by my home? Great dogs and friendly, though I know they can be protective when necessary.

I see. I didn't know that dog liability was worst than gun liability.

My understanding is that if a homeowner feels his/her life is threatened by an intruder, the homeowner can use deadly force as long as it's in self defense. But a biting dog is a no-no, even if it's an uninvited intruder.

I think it varies depending on the state as well.

Connection seems tenuous. Like saying I had a terrible experience at the Y, if I was attacked by a mop wielding track star in University Mall prior to a basketball game.

Title is misleading, but her experience is horrible nonetheless.

I hope they catch this guy. This took place a few blocks away from where my niece lives. Can't pervs like this just order all the panties and thongs they want online without going through all the trouble and risk of breaking and entering?

This reminds me of the stories of Winona Ryder and Jennifer Capriata getting caught shoplifting, even though they had plenty of money. It's not about the actual item.

Now the real problem is that his confidence level has spiked.

I lived in a townhouse shortly after my mission (Chatsworth in Provo). There were about three rows of townhouses in the complex and some girls lived across the way. Their window was probably about 25 feet from my window.

The blinds in my room didn't work very well. And my bathroom was attached to my room. The girls told me one time laughingly something like "your blinds are awesome." So I think the pervert girls were checking me out. The thing is, I never really made much of an effort after that to conceal anything. It wasn't worth the effort, I didn't care, and I really couldn't blame them.

This also happened in the first area on my mission. We lived on the bottom floor and had a huge window with no blinds. About 40 feet away was another apartment building that was three stories high. One time we decided to tract out this adjacent building and we found this saucy 20 year old girl that informed us that she'd definitely seen us around and she started laughing and said that we needed to pay more attention to our privacy.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
