I’m not a huge fan of Tim Tebow—the player or person. I’m sure he’s a good dude, just not my particular cup or herbal tea. Sadly, his dad just died, and I scrolled through his pictures with his dad and family. I wonder if Tim’s biological father is a gym trainer or UPS man somewhere, because he bears absolutely no resemblance to his father.

I don't know how I ever stumbled on this, but since you bring up Tim Tebow:Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostI’m not a huge fan of Tim Tebow—the player or person. Oh how times have changedOriginally posted by happyone View PostMy brothers and I were talking last night at my fathers and the topic turned to just how young military leadership is.
One of brothers son's just finished in Co Command and hasn't turned 30 yet
A typical Plt ldr is 22-23 yrs old, is in charge of 30-40 people and millions of dollars in equipment
a Co/Btry Co is late 20s and has 150-200 people working for him and is signed for 10s of millions of dollars in equipment
a Battalion Co is in his mid 30 has 500 to 1000 people working for them and upwards of 100 million dollars of equipment
a Brigade Co is in his early 40 has upwards of 5000 people working for them
by 45 most officers have retired
I'm currently reading The Regulars
Its about how the US Army changed from a frontier constabulary of 28K men in 1898 to an organization of over 10 mil people and capable of running and more importantly winning a world war in 1941
Since the retirement age was 64, at the start of the Spanish American War in 1898 the Army had 272 Lts and Cpts that were Civil War Veterans. Thats appox 10% of the officer Corps and doesn't include Majs and above
The American effort in Cuba was, to use the military term - a Cluster F***. If the Spanish had really wanted to fight, it would have been a blood bath!!
I may be small, but I'm slow.
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

I remember interviewing the company commander of a private who tested positive for marijuana five separate times before a separation board was held (COVID-related delays). He looked young for his age and could have passed for a high school senior. His motor pool held vehicles worth millions of dollars.Originally posted by happyone View Post

My current unit uses the Special Operations model of O-4 company commanders, which I think makes sense considering the mission set."What are you prepared to do?" - Jimmy Malone
"What choice?" - Abe Petrovsky

Nobody ever HAS to take a bath (or shower).Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostMaybe this is a sign that I lead a privileged life, but I had to take a bath instead of a shower this morning and it is one of the worst things to happen to me in years."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

A year ago, I would have agreed. But, I discovered that a piping hot bath provides me with exceptional pain relief for my herniated discs in my lumbar vertebrae and a chance to meditate.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostMaybe this is a sign that I lead a privileged life, but I had to take a bath instead of a shower this morning and it is one of the worst things to happen to me in years.
you’re welcome for the visual.
of course, I shower right after to get ready for the day.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

I've been assembling the parts I need to convert the 50-amp line dedicated to the (nonexistent) hot tub into a feed for a subpanel that will refeed the hot tub line as well as add a couple of 20-amp 240V outlets and a duplex 20-amp 120V outlet to the shop/garage. Wire is expensive.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View Post

Hot tubs are awesome on cold clear nights. If you have a spouse that harbors ice blocks as feet a hot tub is a godsend.
Taking baths in place of showering really sucks."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."
