"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Yes, far from perfect. And Vegas is fine, but there is simply no comparison in the weather, which is what everyone was talking about, I think.

Don't confuse the City and County of San Francisco with all of the Bay Area. In SF those problems are bad, but not as bad as some suggest. But I assure you they are a lot less charitable towards that stuff in places like Mill Valley or Walnut Creek or Palo Alto, etc. And the lovely weather descends on them all.

          fair enough.

as far as the weather discussion, mark me down for cold, snowy weather >>>>>>> hot weather. If i could live in an area where the temp never goes above 60 and i get a bunch of snow in the winter, spring and fall, i'd be very happy.

this is just one data point and consider to source. When I was in ROTC the Prof Of Mil Sci (PMS) was transferred to Hawaii during the summer between my Jr and Sr yr. During my Sr yr he came back and had a round table discussion with the SR cadets. One of the topics we discussed was Hawaii. He said he loved his job (CoS of the 25thID) but he HATED living in Hawaii. He said the 1st 30 days were wonderful, but then he got island crazy - you can't go anywhere.

I can't say if this is true or not - the only time I've been to Hawaii is to clear customs coming home from my mission. I never even got out of the airport

I may be small, but I'm slow.

            • Yeah, Hawaii is a terrible place to live. Great place to visit though.

I hear people say that they would get island fever, then ask them how far they've traveled in the past six months and as often as not they haven't even been as far as they could go on the Big Island.

I still think I would love to live in Kona. My wife thinks it's too far from our grandchildren. At least I'll be visiting a couple of the islands the end of September so that I can dream again of living there.

Let's be honest. This is what truly drives the decision of where to live.

If that were true, I would have moved to Las Vegas or Fresno/Clovis. The nearest grandchild is over 300 miles away.

                          What's an extra 2500 miles?

                              • I was thinking the other day about how I'd feel if Disney or whoever did a remake of Young Guns. I'm leaning on the side of no. The original was so badass.
