There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Way more fun than I expected. We had our 2-yr-old (almost 3) granddaughter with us and she loved every second, so that was fun. The food was great - variants of japanese dishes and cheap. And it was fun to watch the Japanese visitors. They go all out - most of them were dressed up. Park admission was $65 per person.Originally posted by Donuthole View Post

I have been planning a 2 week trip to Spain, mainly to visit my oldest daughter's mission. We promised her we would take her back when she recovered from her accident. And last summer didn't work with everyone.
So we are doing mainly her mission in Barcelona (4 days) and Mallorca (5 days) and then a jaunt over to Madrid for 3 or so days. There are 7 of us so it is a headache, but she is so excited it is all worth it.
Then she and her sister are staying around and doing a study abroad 5 days after we leave, so I get to help them plan that too. Once you are in europe, flights are so cheap they can go anywhere.

I'll be in France in early June. I'm taking my two youngest and my in-laws, so with MJ there will be 6 of us. It's amazing how going from 5 to 6 people can make Europe insanely expensive. We ended up realizing that flying out of London would be $1k cheaper in total, so we decided to extend for two days, take the train to London and spend two days there. I'm not looking forward to vacationing with my FiL since I think he'll hate Paris (he's a farmer from Oregon) but I think he'll love Normandy."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Surprising - seemed like there were a lot more fees flying out of London than Paris. Maybe that was just for award flights.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Tell me about it. I told them this is the last time I take the kids, but my wife seems to like them. My Mom is coming along too. She loves to travel.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

This matches my experience. Flights out of London have a lower raw fare price but then there are number of whopping fees that get tacked on. Example: the fare itself for a business class ticket from LHR to SLC might only be, say, $2,500 but then they add another $2K in fees.Originally posted by Pelado View Post

Taking another adult can be a godsend on these trips as long as they aren't totally annoying. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics from the trip.Originally posted by BigPiney View Post

My kids are 22, 18, 16 and 11 that are coming. They did Paris 2 years ago and London in 2000. They can handle it.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

My mom is a trooper. We did 2 weeks in Africa last fall and had a blast together. She is up for anything. Last year she went to Mexico with my brother's family and took a day tour by herself to the cenotes and did the zip line with 2 friends she met that day on the tour. Not bad for a 72 year old. Heck, last week she went skeet shooting for the first time.

Hey Eddie Jones (Moliere), BigPiney and other Francophones! I need your help! I am going to be spending 4 days or so in Paris in the beginning of June. I would love to hear any recommendations on best places to stay, things to be sure and do, and things you would avoid. This is my first time in Paris.
