[QUOTE=il Padrino Ute;1220602]Why assume he is coddled? You don't think athletes work hard to take care of their bodies? How many NBA guys are out of shape? Pay & allowances vary. You can look up the pay scales. With just base pay and BAS (rations), he'll make 22,976.64 per year. A non-taxable housing allowance (BAH) varies by location and whether or not you have dependents. There is also other special assignment pay depending on what you do. You don't stay a Private E1 for very long.

Exactly. "A coddled athlete." That's based on what? I don't know if you realize what kind of ass you have to bust to become a professional athlete- I've followed a lot of their stories. Jimmer for example is a notoriously hard worker, anything but coddled, and is barely scraping by in the league. Unless you are extremely athletically gifted, nothing is given for free at that level.
I know lots of servicemen and respect them and their abilities immensely. Hell- I just won a Ragnar running w a bunch of marines. Yes, they work hard and are great at their jobs-- but don't tell me that a person who got into the NBA, whose existence practically hinges on obeying Coach, couldn't handle structure. Those that can't find themselves out of the league pretty quickly. You are pretty much just voicing your own prejudice."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

And you're still missing my point that it's the conformity that a pro athlete couldn't deal with.Originally posted by Commando View PostExactly. "A coddled athlete." That's based on what? OMG I've addressed that in every single one of my posts. Yes, Pat Tillman, the only known sample, really had a rough time making it. I believe he only got to be an Army Ranger before he was tragically killed.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostAnd you're still missing my point that it's the conformity that a pro athlete couldn't deal with."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch!
