3 for me. My second guess was technically a bad guess as I used a letter that should have been invalid, but it it let me do it on hard mode. But it also turned out to be good guess because I didn't have the "many possibilities" problem that some you had on subsequent guess.

I learned that with Hard mode one must use previous green hints in the same place. Previously, I would occasionally move the revealed hint to a different spot in order to use a word that maximized the number of new consonants, setting me up for an easy third step solution. This way takes a little longer to mull over but can result in fewer steps.Comment
