I’ve lived my life by the motto of doing the exact opposite of any Arthur Andersen partners and that has served me well in my life.

I think laundered shirts are great. Especially if you’re in court or you have to sell your product or services to clients. But I don’t have the logistical fortitude to drop off and pick them up and keep the supply chain unbroken.

I may give them a look. I've been pretty solidly Charles Tyrwhitt for about 15 years, but I think they have lowered their quality in the last few years to try to maintain their familiar price point, and I'm not loving it. $55 feels like the right price for a quality dress shirt right now. But I'll still get them dry cleaned. I'm not a peasant.

Do you really have them dry cleaned (i.e. soaked in some non-water solvent) or do you just have them professionally laundered?

After being devoted to Brooks Brothers non-iron pinpoint Oxford shirts for two decades, I’ve switched allegiances (at least for white shirts. Roundtree & York Gold Label (Dillard’s brand), spread collar, fitted cut is my new #1. They come out of the dryer looking like a million bucks, and full price are $55 (and you can snag them on sale a few times a year).

Sadly, I'm revoking this endorsement.

After 10 months, all three shirts started to fray along the edge of the collar and/or the area by the buttons. Pretty disappointed in the lack of longevity.

Yeah, I feel like they are your dad's (aka, one's dad's) go-to shirt for church, etc. If you are wearing dress shirts daily, or even semi-weekly, a more robust product is necessary.

I recently bought a shirt from Proper Cloth. Its a DTC custom shirtmaker. Its way more pricey than Roundtree & Yorke (as well as CT), but you can really dial in the fit and the fabrics are top notch. I am moving into the era of buying fewer items of very good quality over more items of inferior quality.
