I admit that it is abnormal.

I guess I don't mind some forms of pranks. Freshman year in DT someone filled the elevator with wadded up copies of the Daily Universe, then they sent the elevator down to the lobby. That was a pretty funny sight to see.

Another group of guys threw a stove/oven off the roof. That was dumb, as it could have really injured someone else.

I recently read of some NBA rookie that had his SUV filled with popcorn by one of his teammates. The guy had to get his car professionally cleaned to get the smell out.

I guess it just depends. I have never been a fan of pranks where people get wet, stuff gets damaged, or putting gross stuff in their food. To me, that stuff seems weird. But to each his own.

It was a pretty lame April Fools Day at our house. No jokes.

I did get my joy school group with a tiny little trick. Yesterday was my turn to teach and when the kids showed up, I told them that there would never be snacks again at joy school. It was cute to see their reactions. I made sure to say April Fool's Day before anyone cried. Then I told them to play a joke on their moms and tell them that they watched a movie during joy school while I talked on the phone the whole time. I hope if they remembered to tell the joke that they remembered to say April Fools Day.

I did nothing as well. The high school comments in this thread reminded me of my favorite high school prank though.

It was my senior year, and I'd done just about everything I could do to get suspended but I skated clear every time. This was a big deal, because if I had a school suspension on my record I wouldn't be eligible for a couple of big scholarships that my parents were banking on me getting - but I didn't care.

Scholarship decisions were being made and announced soon, and I was only a few days from being in the clear on April 1st. I went to the office, gathered the principal, secretaries, and all of my friends around the the speaker phone and called my mom.

Me: Mom, I have some bad news.
            Mother: What?
            Me: Well, I got suspended.
            Mother: .....For what?
            Me: Skipping class
            Mother: .....(sigh)....Shit....

She was so happy when I told her it was just an April Fools joke that she didn't even mind when I told her she was on speaker phone.

I briefly had a high school girl friend who covered my pickup truck with cow and pig intestines. She had a connect with a slaughter house where she was able to purchase a pile of offal for pennies. This was seriously not funny. I pranked her back by making out with her best friend. She didn't think that was funny either. Some relationships just weren't made to last.

I took pictures of a guys car in our office and put an ad in Autotrader that said:

"Must Sell! Need money for mission, Book is 12,500, willing to let go for $5500. (then I listed the amenities and followed that up with his phone number)

His phone was ringing off the hook yesterday, it still hasnt stopped. It also took him about 5 phone calls to figure out what was going on.

Last year for AFD, I went in to my bosses office, she has pictures of all of her kids in there, I took the pictures out of the frames and went down to Kinkos and made copies that look like the originals. We then defaced the hell out of hte pictures and put them back in the frames. She didnt even notice and actually had clients in her office with the pictures like that.

I wonder what the legal ramifications would be for this prank?

Assuming it was not a prank and a genuine ad, wouldn't the placement of the ad constitute a valid offer, with acceptance of the offer (absent counter negotiations) constituting a valid acceptance?

And since the guy didn't place the ad, technically couldn't the prankster be guilty of fraud? I don't remember the elements of fraud, at least from a UCC standpoint.

                  Any help on this one?

With even less legal expertise than you, I would guess that the term WILLING has quite a bit of legal wiggle room. Willing today? Willing ten years from now? Willing to the first person to offer the money?

Any awesome AFD pranks today? Slow morning for me so far...I'll have to come up with something before I get home.

I was listening to the radio on my drive to work this morning and PK made some joke about DJ leaving the show to work for some startup MLS TV station. Later they had David Locke on talking about the chances of the Jazz making the playoffs. While he was on, they asked if he'd ever done a AFD prank live on the air.

Locke replied that he'd only ever done that once - and he learned his lesson to never do it again.

He said that during his first stint in SLC he reported that Rick Majerus was leaving the U, and the U had hired Roger Reid. Of course, this was while both were still coaching the U and BYU respectively. They had a number of people in on the joke, and lined up several interviews with past players, other news reporters, etc. DJ had actually been one of the interviews and been in on the joke way back when.

Locke said it was all fun and games, until Chris Tunis - who was doing sports on another radio station - started reporting the story without checking sources or getting any kind of confirmation. Then he felt bad, because he really liked Tunis, who came away looking the fool.

Any of you locals recall the prank?

Since I began writing my column on Lake Powell several years ago, I’ve kept a pretty close eye on the National Park Service’s news releases regarding Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
