Funny you should say Espirit, because we saw it in quite a few locations in Paris and were surprised by how prevalent it seemed to be. There were Espirit stores in very trendy/contemporary places like Galeries Lafayette and Forum Les Halles (which, btw, had a record/book/dvd shop that I could have spent the rest of my life in).So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I rocked bananna when it was just a catalog and before it was acquired by Gap in 1983! I had a couple of the T-shirts with pictures of animals on the back.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostMy coworkers and I were discussing stores we used to rock that have now disappeared:

There was this massive knock-off store sometime in the early 90s that sold only those type of shirts (BR animal shirts). I can't remember the name of it for the life of me (and truthfully, I don't even know if it was a national store or just a Utah-based company). They were all the rage for about a year, before they suddenly disappeared.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostI rocked bananna when it was just a catalog and before it was acquired by Gap in 1983! Also, County Seat was big at the time. Nuovo (we always called it "Nauvoo") brand denim was hawt! I'm proud to say I had an aversion to black denim even when it was supposedly stylish.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Was it DEI or something like that? I rocked some animal t-shirts pretty hard in jr. high from some store in SLC, and I think that was the name.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostThere was this massive knock-off store sometime in the early 90s that sold only those type of shirts (BR animal shirts). That doesn't ring a bell, but that may be the store. I remember going into the store in the Red Cliffs "Mall" and it being divided into sections: tropical-themed animals over in this corner, arctic animals in that corner, etc. I also remember girls wearing the shirts and rolling up the sleeves. Meanwhile I was a 135 lb kid rocking an XXL.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostWas it DEI or something like that? Unfortunately, Units never worked for guys.Originally posted by Babs View PostDid you have the skirt you could also wear as a top or as a belt? Very rad. I had a black one that I was never allowed to wear as a top, but as a skirt it looked pretty sweet with my bright red Coca Cola sweatshirt.

Actual, the place I was thinking of came to me, it was SDI. I had a sweet whale shirt from there and a bunch of other crap I used to rock hard with my gramicci pants and gore-tex boots.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostThat doesn't ring a bell, but that may be the store. That doesn't sound like the same place. I think the place i'm thinking of was as blatant as "Animal Republic" or something like that. All it sold was knock-off Banana Republic t-shirts.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostActual, the place I was thinking of came to me, it was SDI. I couldn't resist snapping a picture of this guy today. Maybe I'm just out of touch, but I have to think that if I tracked him down 15 years from now he would be very embarrassed to see this shot...Originally posted by Babs View PostI always wanted a fashion forum called The Closet. I could post pictures of all the fashion atrocities I see around town (none of you lives near Austin, right?). Plus UteStar would be in there all the time.
