There's a black version, which is what I meant for camleish. The page defaults to the brown.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I would wear that with both suit colors. But I wouldn't want it to be my only choice to wear. The Burgundy/Mahogany shoe is like the alternate road jersey; sharp looking, and a nice change of pace, but not something you ever want to wear as much as your home whites (black) or your standard road uni (brown).Originally posted by CJF View PostYou would wear that with blue or gray? I don't know why but I think both suit colors require darker shoes.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Ahh. That makes sense. The pic and additional explanation from Donut also changes my opinion somewhat. I don't I can pull it off though.Originally posted by falafel View PostThere's a black version, which is what I meant for camleish. The standard I see in the business/legal world is that you can get away with wearing black shoes with just about anything (black, navy, grey, brown, etc.).
When you're wearing a dark suit, the standard shoe is a black shoe. If you move to a light suit (grey or brown), the standard is to change to a different shoe. My favorite is a cordovan. If you have a nice pair of black shoes and a nice pair of cordovan shoes, you can cover just about anything.
If I were buying all new dress shoes, brown shoes would be third on my list behind getting a pair of black and a pair of cordovan shoes.

But I also disagree with falafel on black shoes/navy suit. Another one people say works just fine, but to me all blues just work better with brown.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostI mentioned wearing gray with brown.
I like the look.
Maybe it's not great for a very conservative business environment, but I like the look.
Particularly with grays that tend to have brown tones to them.
I forced myself to do the grey-brown thing today. seems like a traditional oxford, not something that is going to garner you a lot of attention either way, which is probably what you're looking for. Too shiny for my tastes.Originally posted by camleish View Postso i actually ended up with a brown pair last time i was buying, so now i'm looking at black. what is the opinion of the hivemind on these guys?

I like em fine, but they seem very dressy. The only reason I don't regularly do black shoes is because they aren't as versatile as brown, but they do look sharp.Originally posted by camleish View Postso i actually ended up with a brown pair last time i was buying, so now i'm looking at black. what is the opinion of the hivemind on these guys?
