I calculated it out a few hours ago. It's $5.45 a gallon here for 85 octane. It's about $5.85 for 87. And yet traffic still sucks here.

Looks like I'll be riding my bike to work again as soon as the rainy season is over. We're nearing the $3.60 mark here.

this makes me glad I'm a ten minute bicycle ride from work.Originally posted by Surfah View PostIt's about $3.43 here now most places. Today I carpooled with my father and brother in my little Mazda as opposed to taking the Chevy 1500 and my brother driving separately in his F150.
Most of the other guys I work with are carpooling together as well.

Drill, Obama, drill.....
Gasoline prices across the nation rose 33 cents a gallon on average the past two weeks, prompting some analysts to fret that pump prices could soon hit the $4-a-gallon psychological barrier and stall the USA's nascent economic recovery.
Gasoline is averaging $3.51 nationally for a gallon of regular, with prices over $4 in California and elsewhere. Crude oil prices, which are behind the gasoline surge, settled at a 29-month high Monday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
[...]
The Obama administration is considering deploying the USA's 727 million-barrel strategic oil reserves to ease prices, William Daley, White House chief of staff, told NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday.

I don't know about Spain but here are the prices for the UK over the last 10 years...Originally posted by Tim View PostThat doesn't seem abnormal for Europe. It's hovered around $6-8/gallon in Spain for at least 13 years now.

Spain's unemployment rate has been very high as well. Something around 20%.
Edit: prices for the last few years in the UK (which is missing from above)...

3.23 at the station in Kaysville last night - $3.18 at Smiths in Layton
Uncle Ted the price in London looks like it is less than it was 2 and half years ago when we were visiting my brother. In the summer of '08 it was $10/gal.Last edited by happyone; 03-01-2011, 06:03 AM.
