"Learning his lesson" isn't really Krugman's brand.

As with all new things - the greatest thing from the new thing - is the unimaginable things that are suddenly possible. A door leads into a room - and there's another door that leads to another room we knew nothing about. Go through 12 doors or so into 12 new rooms - and you're dealing with stuff we never could have imagined without doors and rooms 5,6,7 and 8.

Flying cars - being flown by AI - with free energy - will be the best and worst thing that ever happened to the world.

Lebowski's son - is in the right place at the right time. It must be so exciting to be working there right now.

I don't know any plans to fly with AI. Routes will be pre-determined - kind of line invisible roads in the sky.

It is indeed an exciting industry. I hope they get the darn things flying before they run out of cash. Ha.

Bo Jr was telling me about how he uses ChatGPT to send snarky emails to his sergeant at work. Here's his latest:

                Sgt. [REDACTED],

Attached, you'll find the completed emergency contact sheet you requested. Yes, it’s done, though I have to say it feels like one of the more pointless tasks on my plate. It’s hard to see the value in filling out paperwork when there are far more critical duties that actually contribute to our work.

But, of course, I’ve done it—because I know how much these little tasks mean to you. So, please find it attached, and feel free to let me know if there’s anything else that can pull me away from my actual responsibilities.

I love Junior's sense of humor. He can always make me laugh. I think his coworkers appreciate it as well.

This is how he responds to his superiors? Are they buddies and he's joking around?

I love chatGPT. I bought a $20 sub and I use it for legal stuff all the time. Drafting letters, billing entries, research, etc. Way better than google or other sources for general learning and tasks.

Yeah, not sure how close they are, but I'm pretty sure there's a mutual understanding there. What I didn't ask was how he came to have that mutual understanding.

Having worked in the industry years ago, I can affirm that inappropriate humor is often used on the job.

Yeah, I don't know about that approach. Maybe in a conversation, but never in an email. Yikes.

My motto at work in regards to written and even spoken communication is to consider how a sentence would sound if played/read in front of a jury. It probably makes me boring but there are far too many instances where an in corny koke is made but that joke becomes less funny when some other issue comes up and it can be taken out of context.

Im giving a lunch and learn on accounting (yeah, super exciting!) at work next week and I’m bringing prizes for some trivia questions. I almost bought a tumbler that says “Enron employee of the month” but obviously decided against it because 1. It would look really bad if we ever had an accounting issue or restatement and 2. The President of our company worked for Enron back in the late 90s.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

                              Amen.

In my recent leadership position at work, I would often reiterate to our employees, "Dance like nobody is watching, and compose emails as if they will someday be read in a deposition."

I'd been seeing some stuff on Twitter about creating all kinds of cool things with Claude 3.5 and Cursor AI. Over the weekend I started playing around with it and holy cow. I'm not a developer or anything like that and I was able to build a prototype of a fairly complex software tool that I was going to contract out to a dev shop. I'm still going to have the pros do the real work on it, but it's an incredible tool for amateurs to meaningfully engage with the process. Very exciting times.
